Pokémon Emerald is a game with some ups and downs, and it made it harder to get into the game since I had previously played and beat Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire. The game had some cool additions like the extended Pokedex and post Pokémon League, you were able to take part in various battle simulators like the battle tower.
The Graphics aren't improved at all from it's predecessor, but for a gameboy it is average, regardless of the entire game being sprites.
The Sound is the same as it's predecessor as well, but I personally am a big fan of the simplicity of music in Pokémon games...cool.
The addictiveness... well, we are talking about Pokémon! It's addictiveness it very, very high because it takes so long to make a beast that obliterates everything, ya know?
The Story is simple and poorly written, but that seems to be a requirement of most Pokémon games, so I won't hold it against this game.
The depth of this game is not very deep, but there are a few side stories like going to the battle area, and the Regi quest; as well as capturing Groudon and Kyogre post Pokémon League, so the game has a fair amount of depthy content, it's just that being the kind of game it is, its not like it has a super awesome story or anything, so the depth generally isn't very much better.
Pokémon Emerald can be difficult at times, but the game for the most part directs you where you need to go so it's not hard... just slightly irritating.
So that's what I think about Pokémon Emerald, actually putting aside the fact that this is a Pokémon game, there are not a whole lot of fantastic points about the game, but it is an addicting game with all the proper mechanics of a Pokémon game. IF you for some reason haven't played Pokémon Emerald (assuming your a Pokémon fan), then I recommend that you play it... it is here you know (for free!).
