My favorite part of the game is the famous Backwards Long Jump glitch. If you rapidly hit A for longer periods of time (which is probably more millaseconds), you can go through some stuff, but sometimes you can get OOB (Out Of Bounds) and crash the game at a 100% chance on console, but the chance of crashing on a emulator is a big fat 0% of crash. If you have never heard of this before, check a tutorial (Non-TAS) on YouTube, in the YouTube search box, type: How to BLJ Non-TAS

Make sure when you are typing that, you need to capitalize the BLJ and Non-TAS, you can get the same results if you don't type capitals, so it doesn't matter for capitals.

So tell me... What is YOUR favorite moment of Super Mario 64?
Also, does yoshi count or not as a favorite moment because here is what you need for yoshi:
•All 120 Stars (100 coin stars and secrets count towards 120 stars.)
•Hit all switch caps (Green, Blue, Red)
•Defeat Bowser in the sky
That's all that is required for yoshi.

Super Mario 64 was the first video game I ever played. Nintendo did a wonderful job of putting Mario in a 3-D environment. When I was little, my uncle told me if you jump through a certain wall you'll make it in the desert world (I can't remember what the level was called). There's so many fun parts of the game I can't list them all. But one of my favorites is in the snowy world. If you pick up the baby penguin and set him down very close the the edge of the world, he'll fall off and re-appear where he was originally!

Clayton 2 : The desert world is called "Shifting Sand Land", it's in the room where you meet the gold rabbit that give you a star when you catch it, to get to shifting sand land, here is a easy way if you don't know:
Step 1, face the painting that takes you to "Lethal Lava Land".
Step 2, go left to the painting once, then again when you reach the wall.
Step 3, jump into the wall of Shifting Sand Land.
Done, you are now in shifting sand land. Hope it helped!

Another one of my favorite parts is discovering BLJ's, I checked all over YouTube, and only 14/15 courses have BLJ's, the only exception is "Dire Dire Docks". Every course other than dire dire docks has several BLJ's to test, see, and discover, but all of that is a long story.

The best moments of the game to me are the showdowns with Bowser. Spinning him around and around to send him flying is hands down the most fun thing to do on the N64 at least in my eyes.

CarBitGTSaxen : If you want to say that everything in the game is your favorite, that's fine by me.

manicman66 : I did like spinning bowser and then throwing him to his death! Pretty funny.

Another of my favorites is the infamous glitch, the Black Room Of Death. (BROD) It's pointless, and weird at the same time, but 0% funny.

Clayton 2 : Well, I was confused with figuring out either the course name, or how to get there. I ended up mixing both things because I was so confused.

One of my MOST favorite moments is the special "Hyperspeed Flying" Glitch where you can fly at monsterously fast speeds. Check it on youtube for the tutorial, in the youtube search box, type:
"Tutorial hyperspeed flying sm64"
Watch the tutorial that shows it in TAS (Tool Assisted Sprredrun/Superplay) form, and there you go!

I'd have to say my favorite part was maybe the fact that there were secrets EVERYWHERE!!! Or maybe that there was yoshi involved, or maybe because it took me 7 years to beat, (started at age 5ish, finished at age 12ish), mostly because I liked to screw around in that game.

Overall, It was probably one of my favorites! =D

bretzy2000 : I remember that part.

chester909 : 7 years to finish the game!? I remember having super Mario 64 DS since maybe 2006, and I finished 5 years later without cheating.

Another favorite part of mine was the secret yoshi when you get all 120 stars and congratulates you for getting the stars. The first line said, "It that really you???" That is the real first line that yoshi says, no joke!

I liked making it to and fighting the big Wiggler you find in the 13th level, Big-Little Island. Something about it seems really nostalgic for some reason.

I like the level difficulty because it has some twists and turns. And on the snow world is easy to slip off of and that's what I like about the game.

Giegas : If you like difficulty, I don't like difficulty, high difficulties in video games can result me into hating the game.

Q. Has anybody ever knew how to get to the top of the castle without the cannon?

I dunno. I guess the originality and story I guess. My favorite PART of the game was when I had to fight Bowser. I haven't played on vizzed, but my aunt used to, and probably still does, have the Mario game.

catfight09 : The first bowser battle was very easy, the second was tricky, but still easy, but the last battle in the sky doesn't even just say "Go ahead and throw me". Instead, he is like, "Say good bye to your princess you die, *does bowser laugh*" The last battle is the hardest of them all.

First off, I have to say one of my favorite parts was the 3-D level design. Also, I liked the fact that not only did the levels get progressively harder and harder, but as they got harder, they  were slightly trickier to find. Though it was an amazing, outstanding game on the 64, but it was also very fun to look online for the funniest, hardest to pull, and knock-your-socks-off awesome glitches in the game. Plus, the was this website I use to know of that had at least 25 - 50 glitches for every area in the game. So, I was having hours and hours of fun pulling of these glitches. This is why I always loved this game.

alpertbean999 : Thread bump. I loved doing the famous BLJ glitch. I can beat the game with 31 stars, other people can do 16 stars with the MIPS rabbit glitch. Side BLJ (TAS and Non-TAS) can lead to 1 star runs, Non-TAS can do 1 star at minimum, and TAS can do 0 stars at minimum!

I remember playing this game when I still had a Nintendo 64. There was this one moment where I go the cannon outside, and then just fired myself all over the place, trying to land on the Goomba's, just for the hell of it. I mean, it was fun.
