Pokemon TRE - Team Rocket Edition: Potential Pokemon TRE Walkthrough and Pokemon Location
Need others to assist with this. I think it will keep players in the game instead of leaving when they are stuck.

If anyone else would like to collaborate with me on this, I'm starting to write a walkthrough for this game. As a self proclaimed Pokefan, I love adaptations of the classics more so then the newer versions (B & W). I keep reading about concerns on how to play the game in the forums/comments where most players get stuck quite early in the game. I have just cleared 3 badges already and Silph Co story line (GHOST SCOPE->Poke Flute->Master Ball) so I think I have passed almost all of the confusing plot points that everyone appears to be stuck on. My team right now could probably take on traditional Giovanni from RBY but there is still more to go in the Game and I plan to finish it all if I can. (Team right now is lvl 52 Alakazam, lvl 49 Venusaur, lvl 50 Persian, lvl 39 Haunter, lvl 44 Dragonair) If anyone would like to do this with me, please PM me or post here. If we can write this, Ill take down this thread and replace it with the actual Walkthrough/Pokémon Location guide so more people can enjoy this game instead of leaving due to frustration. In the mean time, here is a VERY basic walkthrough. To begin the game, you have to name yourself, your female rival and select your first Pokémon. You should head north to initiate this traditional RBY beginning. Your choice of starters will be based on the TV Shows Team Rocket traditionals: Ekans, Koffing, and Meowth. Ekans: Due to old fashion mechanics, Ekans' wrap move will make consistent frustration for the opposing Pokémon. (As if we care) However, it really doesn't have a large supporting move pool to deal full spectrum damage. The ideal Move set for Ekans/Arbok (courtesy of Smogon.com) would be EQ, Wrap, Glare, and Hyper Beam. EQ/Hyper Beam would be wasted if they were only taught to Arbok and what is left are moves that can be supplied by a multitude of other Pokémon. NOTE: Ekans is a poison type. For some reason, the trainers in this game are smarter then RBY so they will have generally better teams (Of a much higher level too) and Psychic types are common. (God I hate Hypno) This makes Ekans harder to use but not impossible. Koffing: Koffing has a great STAB move in Sludge but that is really it. It can learn Thunderbolt and Fire Blast but those TMs are better left to electric and fire pokemon respectively. Weezing can be a terror if you like the "stall and blast" gameplay but other then that, you might find him sidelined early on. Also, like Ekans, its weakness to Psychic and Ground will hurt it A LOT. Koffing's biggest weakness is that you won't learn any decent attacks until the 30s (actually you don't learn anything until 32) so tackle and smog are all you will have. Meowth: critical Slash make the game SO much easier. Also, Pay Day and Bite will give you consist Money and Flinching odds respectively which can help early on in the game until you reach lvl 51 (which is oddly easily reached early on). Persian also learns Thunderbolt and some of the weaker water moves which round her off nicely but once again, thunderbolt is better taught to an electric pokemon. While Meowth appears to be the weakest of the three starting off, its evo Persian and the combination of a STAB/Guaranteed If it isn't obvious, I favor Meowth as my starter strictly on her ability to out-speed, Flinch, and critical hit on everything she faces. Plus, fighting type pokemon aren't in the picture till much later in the game so you don't have to worry about anything being super effective. If you prefer the abusive power of Wrap, Ekans is your choice and will do well up until Sandy (Gym Badge 2 is as far as I got with it). If you went with Koffing, just know that you won't learn a new move until your 30s (personally, i haven't tried this pokemon at all because I struggled so much early on) NOTE: What makes this game interesting (other then plot) is that the creator carefully places Pokémon along routes that you are more likely to keep in your journeys instead of the never ending Zubats, Rats and Pidgeys. Dratini, all RBY starters and the 3rd tier trade evolutions are all available on the routes you travel. Now back to the walkthrough. As you head north, you continue to follow RBY mechanics as you have to fetch a package for Giovanni in order to earn the Pokedex. You will encounter Doduos galore on this route which you should abuse for quick exp. The first major cave is all fire Pokémon which love ember and since all three starters have low SPC, you should level up to compensate. The fire Pokémon are all below level 10 so that is around the ideal level to be at. Ponyta: Rapidash is beast later on the in game but it will make leveling Ponyta up rather hard since like Koffing, it was meant as a late game pokemon so it doesn't learn any new moves until its 30s. I would chose Ponyta or Growlithe personally but Charmander seems to be the way most gamers go. Growlithe: Anyone who has played pokemon knows Arcanine is the King of Fire pokemon. Large movepool and good stats make it a necessity. The only hard part is that Growlithe seems to be bugged to use Roar 80% of the time as its first move and 25% of the time after that so you dont have much time to weaken it. Don't fret since there are many of these lvl 6 buggers. Paras: Ignore entirelly. Terrible stats and even worse speed make it hard to use as a battling pokemon. You can choose to catch one in order to spore pokemon to sleep but there are a few pokemon later on that do the same thing more reliably and faster too. Zubat: What would a cave be without Zubat. You can catch one now or later cuz he isn't going anywhere anytime soon. Golbats are also catchable later. Charmander: The classic favorite starter. Slash, Flamethrower and Dig make this pokemon rather rounded and quick too but he as well as the other fire types will be hard to raise. At least the Creator included that old fashion part in the game. This cave is pretty straight forward. Few trainers (will add them with pokemon later) stand between you and the exit but you should have no trouble navigating it. Ideally at this time you want to have caught at least one to two other pokemon to support you starter. :TIME CUT: If you like how this guide is going, please PM me with gameplay questions or if you wish to work with me on this. I think all Pokémon gamers can learn to appreciate this game as much as I have. I will post more as I go along. I have two accounts playing this (one for guide and one for myself) so I can replay many events if someone needs more details Ty signing off If anyone would like to do this with me, please PM me or post here.
