I have played Resident Evil 5 for a while now and I am close to beating the game.  I realized that from the start, you are in Africa.  I understand that there are more blacks than whites in Africa, but when you get further into the game, you are not in that place anymore and there are still a few blacks.  Not racist enough? This may be a better understanding.  One of the zombies happen to be a big fat black guy, who happens to be hard to kill, and when you kill it, most of the time it would give you a giant gold ring (or whatever it is "jewel bangle" I think).  Does that seem a bit racist because you are white and you are shooting blacks.  I understand that some Resident Evil games would start out with blacks in the beginning, but having to see a lot of it makes it look a bit racist.  I may just be over exaggerating, but what do you think about this? Is this surprising to you?

Thats not racist at all,its africa and the only level where youre not technicaly in africa is on the ship and plane.

These black people happen to be infected with a fictional virus that is used for biological terrorism. Getting a gold ring off a black person in a game is more like a joke or something that is only racist if you feel it is. It's like watching say... a Tyler Perry comedy of some sort and calling comedy made by a black guy racist.

No, it's not racist lol. Because if that was the case then people might as well say RE4 is racist too since you're shooting and killing Spaniards. The reason why it was set in Africa is because both the T-virus and Uroboros was originated there. Plus, Wesker's current location is Africa. The only way that it would become racist, if there was just senseless killing without cause (meaning no storyline just kill Africans). You're there to stop Wesker from complete global saturation. Besides, MegaRevolution1 is right. It's the player that makes games bad. I'm sure a racist played this game and got a kick out of it.

Shoot a black dude and bling comes out? Even if it's funny, I can see it be considered racist. That being said, I've seen much much more obvious and worse instances than that.

The game is not racist. You are trying to MAKE it racist when you say "Oh you shoot a black guy and bling drops"

The treasures like this that drop during the game are your character's #1 source for money, because they sell for a lot. A lot of websites are making fun of the racist allegations about this game because its so obvious that you are killing zombies, not random black people.

I don't think it is racist in the least. Come on. Wesker is white, and you kill him. Heck, they make the one white enemy in the game just plain evil. At least the black people you kill are only bad because they are zombies. If anything, that says a lot  

Maybe they are just making up for the fact that Resident Evil 1-3 were all white zombies (and the Tyrant was super pasty white), and Resident Evil 4 was killing Europeans. If I were black, I would have been very offended that when there were no black zombies. Represent !

This was a problem when Capcom first showed footage of their original build back whenever it came out. "A white guy killing a bunch of black people in a village?! Racist bastards!" But even IF racism is a topic of the game, or a theme, it would make the story seem more fleshed out. Look at it like this: Wesker is using these poor, disadvantaged people as subjects to test his B.O.W.'s. This should provide more of an incentive to put a stop to his schemes and what-not. But that being said, I do not believe this game is racist or has racist undertones. Naturally, in Africa, there will be a higher population of blacks than anyone else, but throughout the game you will encounter many enemies of various skin-tones and ethnic backgrounds. Middle-Eastern, Indian, etc.
In conclusion, I think your main concern is staying alive with Sheva's horrendus AI . . . good luck with that lol

I don't think it'd be racist like that. Actually, I think it'd be more racist if they had just white zombies and nobody black.

Nowadays, people take everything to be racist. So you can't really say it isn't. But I think the developers were just trying to find a way to mix in different races so they wouldn't encounter problems like those.

The only comment about race that a zombie game *might* be making is that an event like a zombie outbreak is an equalizer - The virus knows no age, race or social class. ALL people who are infected with the virus are immediately reduced to a non-person. They must be killed because they are a zombie; there is no other deciding factor and race has nothing to do with who you are shooting and who lives.
