You all may know by now that I have been posting things where people could have fun taking the verbs, nouns, and vowels out of their sentences, for fun and profit. Well, I thought I'd post something that wasn't in the general chat, and yet, something that was about language. Man, this keyboard is loud when you type fast...
I have re-stumbled across a language I've seen before, but never quite believed, never quite delved into. I am making my own language. Why would I want to learn another? Well, I have found out a few things about it.
* Lojban has an unambiguous yet flexible grammar.
The phrase "A Pretty Little Girls School" has 22 distinct meanings, ranging from "a school for beautiful small girls" to "a quite small school for girls" to "a cute school for a little girl in particular" and everything in between. In Lojban, you can say each one, distinctively, and NOT be mistunderstood. In fact, you can't be misunderstood in any fashion, apparently.
* Lojban is simple compared to natural languages; it is easy to learn.
Have you tried to learn Japanese or Mandarin Chinese? A trifle difficult, yes? Well, this is easier to learn than Esperanto.
* Lojban attempts to remove restrictions on creative and clear thought and communication.
And can't we all use a little less misunderstanding on the internet?
Read the first chapter of this book, and you may be as hooked as I am on the idea of learning this astounding language.
And ask me about the language I'm making. I just might tell you someday.
