Today, I will be reviewing my favorite Final Fantasy game for the PlayStation 1, Final Fantasy IX. It has proven to be a good game, but for some reason just wasn't popular enough. But I believed in the game, and kept going forth with it. So, here's my review!

Storyline: 8/10
Alright, the storyline! It's a really good storyline, but there are a few problems messing it up. The ATEs may give you some tips, but sometimes they screw you up or piss you off (That a**h*** bandit in one of the ATEs stole like, 1000 of my gil!). Another thing that screwed the storyline is Tweedledumb and Tweedleidiot, aka Zorn and Thorn, the most annoying jesters ever. Being apprentices in Ultro's Academy Of Idiots, they have proven to be VERY annoying and always getting in your way. Luckily, you get to kill them, but it's not for a LONG time. Either way, the story about the Eidolons is pretty awesome.

Characters: 8/10
1 point subtracted for Steiner and Amarant being the ONLY actual human race characters (Zidane is a Genome, Vivi is a Black Mage, Dagger/Garnet and Eiko are Summoners, Freya is...a Burmecian or whatever, and Quina is a Qu.) but the characters are pretty good. Made a few good choices for the characters (Zidane being a ladies man, Amarant being a loner, Vivi being plain bad ass and awesome, etc.) but screwed up on some of them. (Quina being annoying, Eiko being a brat and SUPER annoying, Freya being emo for letting her boyfriend forget her, etc.) Otherwise, the characters have been pretty good, and Quina gave me some laughs at some points. And of course, there is Tweedledumb and Tweedleidiot..

Gameplay: 10/10
ALRIGHT! Gameplay! I love the battle system, the navigation system, just about everything! You get to make a Chocobo walk on water and fly and stuff! (Making the chocobo get to go ANYWHERE!) You even get 3 airships! It is plain cool and awesome of the gameplay. There are secrets everywhere, cool towns, and more and more awesome gameplay!

Music: 9/10
ANOTHER one that proves to be great! The music of Final Fantasy IX is TOTAL EPIC! I love the boss theme, I love Dark Messenger, I love Your Not Alone, and Run (The music that plays when you have a time limit, or being chased.) has proven to get me going and get my heart beating! Destiny Sword (Beatrix's Fight Theme) has been proven to be a great theme. Although, one point away because whenever I hear Jesters Of The Moon, I think "Oh great, here comes Tweedledumb and Tweedleidiot..." and then poof, the annoying jesters are on the screen. I still like Jesters Of The Moon's theme though. Every theme did not disappoint me.

Difficulty: 6/10
The game has also been proven to be a bit tricky at some points (OZMA!!! AHHHH!!!!) but easy at others (Soulcage. Lets use a Phoenix Down!). It was sometimes hard to navigate, but once you got the Gold Chocobo or an airship, navigation in the world map is a cakewalk. It was also a bit hard to get awesome stuff (Can I learn Ark now?! GIVE ME THE DAMN PUMICE!!!) but easy to get awesome stuff at the same time (Robe of Lords is easy to steal from Quale.).

Final Score: 8/10
The game has impressed me. Final Fantasy IX has been able to get me in all emotions, happy, sad, laughing, mad, excited, surprised, and much more! There were a HECK of a lot of funny moments. Although, some points RUINED the fun of the game (ZORN AND THORN!! ) and made me throw the controller at the TV and yell. (DAMN YOU TIAMAT!! WHY MUST YOUR JET FIRE ATTACK BE SO DAMN CHEAP!?) Although, it has been a very fun game. The Trance system was FULL of epic win! But when Garnet/Dagger became mute, it was IMPOSSIBLE to get her to do stuff! (She couldn't trance or summon or cast white magic at some points!) But still, Final Fantasy IX has been a very great game. So, play it now!

This was your favorite Final Fantasy? lol but you seemed really unforgiving in your review... especially with the story and characters. I haven't had a chance to play this yet, but some of the best things about FF games is the story and characters, so i'm surprised to find them so low lol. Ohhh well, otherwise, pretty nice review.

And I didn't hate the storyline and characters. They were very good. Just got me pissed when Tweedledumb and Tweedleidiot appears and 6/8 of the characters aren't even human, but I don't mind.

dude i only cheat after i beat a game atleast 3 times....i play it fair the first few times....and then i cheat only to try to get more fun out of the game

No spoiler warnings, dude? I know the game has been out forever, but still.

I love this game, it was my first final fantasy. I finally got to disk 4 and then i lost my memory card =( . I don't understand why people think FF7 is so much better than this.

My first Final Fantasy was 7, but guess what I just found? My copy of this game. many hours playing this. I really disliked how those a**h***s cheaped out on the guide and left half of it online.
