The Mega Man X franchise has gave us some memorable mavericks. Mega Man X5 gave us some very interesting ones. Dark Dizzy is a maverick from Mega Man X5. He is considered by many fans to be one of the strangest mavericks from X5. Lets dive in and learn about this strange maverick.

First, Dark Dizzy is based off of a vampire bat. He took control of a space lab. He guards the rocket fuel needed to help power up the shuttle. It also seems that he has control over robot bats as he can tell them what to do.

Unlike other mavericks that were created for good only to be corrupted by the Sigma Virus. Dark Dizzy was created by Sigma possibly around the events of X4. Basically, he was created to be a maverick from the get go. However, Sigma thought he was useless and did not even bother to use him. In fact, he threw him away.

Due to being a maverick this put him as a target by the Maverick Hunters. However, he hates the mavericks especially Sigma because Sigma threw him away. He does not trust either side. He decided to hide until the events of X5. He was able to hide for several years. He was only detected when the Hunters needed the rocket fuel for the shuttle. He has made the space lab into a fortress rigged with death spikes and traps. This could be because he was afraid the hunters would try to find him and that Sigma would try to kill him. This would explain why he rigged it with traps.

Appearance wise he is portrayed as being purple with large wings. He also resembles another Mega Man character. He resembles Shade Man. Shade Man is also bat like and is also purple with large wings.

His personality is best described as being insane, more on that later. He is very aggressive due to being rejected and afraid of being hunted down. He is also determined that when confronted he wants to prove himself. This is because he was rejected in the past. He can be very stubborn. He refuses to work with the hunters. Unknown to him X and Zero did not have intentions on killing him they were just after his rocket fuel. But he challenged them to a duel and that was his downfall. Ironically, by challenging the hunters he resembled a maverick working for Sigma. He also seems to lack empathy. He does not care that the world could be destroyed. In fact, he say that is good because everyone will die. He fails to see that if the Space Colony had collided with Earth he would have perished as well.

The following is why he is considered to be one of the strangest mavericks from X5. If confronted by X or Zero he says some interesting things. This is why he is considered insane.

When confronted by X
Dizzy: I've been waiting for you.
X can't you see I'm not here to fight you. Give me the shuttle fuel.
Dizzy: I take orders from no one rather it be a hunter or sigma. The name Sigma means nothing to me. ARe you ready here I come
X I will dispose of mavericks
Dizzy I'm ready I'm Ready

In another exchange with X
X Dizzy cannot you see that the earth is in danger.
Dizzy Who cares everybody will die both Sigma and Hunters.
But just to make sure I will kill you myself since your here to kill me.

Encountered by Zero
Dizzy: I know that smell
Zero : He is insane already
Dizzy: No we are comrades let us not fight each other.
Zero : You crazy fool what are you all about
Dizzy: Lets retire the mavericks
Zero : You are one of them and will be destroyed.

When confronted by Zero for the second time
Dizzy: This is very funny
Zero : Ugh he has gone off the deep end already
Dizzy: The earth is about to be severly damaged. Join me brother lets retire the reploids all together
Zero : Its time for you to be retired.

The conversations with Zero suggest he is aware that Zero used to be a maverick. As Zero was the original source of the Sigma Virus.

Dizzy has some attacks. Dizzy will call and send robot bats at the player. He will try to overwhelm the player with bats. His most annoying attack is bloodsucking. He will grab the player and bite them draining the players health while healing. This is another feature he shares with shade man. Dark Wave is several waves of sound that can stun the player. His main attack is Dark Hold. Dark Hold will stun the player to where they cannot move. Then Dizzy will do his other attacks.

His weakness is the laser weapon as it omits a powerful light. Being a bat he is sensitive to light. The light will stun him and damage him.

He is considered a strange maverick because he was originally a maverick from the get go. He also is strange because he believes Zero is a comrade instead of a hunter. His conversations as I have stated show he is insane. He resembles Shade Man as I have pointed out. This was done on purpose.

In an interview some the Mega Man designers stated "We had Shade Man and basically he was count Dracula. We wanted another robot that resembled Shade Man and was basically another vampire type robot. Thus we created Dark Dizzy".

Mega Man X5 had some interesting characters: A weapons dealer (Grizzly), a former hunter who retired (Squid Adler), A scientist turned maverick (Izzy Glow), A protector of the sea (Whale), A Replo Force Officer (Skyvir), A person born due to mutation (Axle Rose), Another Repliforce Officer (Burn Dino), and maverick who is a maverick meaning him.

In conclusion, Dizzy has an interesting past. He is one of the strangest mavericks for reasons I mentioned above. Anyway, this concludes my bio of him.
