And now for a story I would like to call...why I'm late with this. Well Youtube is on a bit of a private spree, and I had several videos on my watch later playlist that got set to private...I also had a dentist appointment and then I had to run an errand with my mother, I really need to consider pre-writing my reviews in the future (because I know I'll be late on Friday).
Gameplay and Story: So some strange meteor has landed in the Sierra Nevadas, so of course some government agency gets involved....I'M JUST KIDDING the Cluefinders get called instead, and well let's just say Owen is kind of well unusually careless in this game, we've seen Joni be careless in regards to trying to cross ravines and gorges without bridges and trying on ancient rings without thinking about what might happen, but well......let's just say he should have listened when he was told not to touch it, the next thing you know they are not on earth anymore. And so our heroes are separated in groups of two, and for the first time in the franchise, Joni is NOT paired up with Santiago, she's paired up with Owen, and they are greeted by someone who claims to be a Princess, of course Joni is suspicious of her but Owen isn't, he crushes on her hard, she explains that they need to find some kind of special amulet and protect it from this sorceress called Malicia....yeah I have a bad feeling there's going to be a twist. There's also something with two different creatures but I haven't played this game enough to memorize what they are.
Graphics: They did something a little different now every time they enter something they now have their logo come in inbetween, it's like the 60s Batman series.
Sound: Well I haven't played the game enough times to give an accurate description, but at least it still fits theming.
Addictive: Well the first time I ever completed this game, I did it in ONE sitting.
Depth: Of course like a majority of the Cluefinders games this is done in a three act structure.
Difficulty: All of the activities are relatively easy except for one, there is a door puzzle in the final act it's basically one of those letter puzzles where you are told you either have one correct letter in the right place or wrong place, I hate puzzles like that(I didn't mind it so much in the bookworm adventures as a mini game but not in a game like this) there is also a puzzle that was reused in a previous game and laptrap gets a bit of an upgrade as now he can have drones coming out of him for the purpose of an activity (okay when did Joni's Uncle get a promotion because apparently he's a professor now).
Post review Follow-up: if my review feels a little off, I have a good reason, I've only completed the game twice in my life (and I plan to do a third go this summer) because I don't consider it to be that good, despite the fact that a different partnership happens in this one, I wish they could have done one more game so that we could have Joni team up with Leslie and Santiago teaming up with Owen. Hell I didn't play this game for the first time until I took out Adventure Workshop from the library for the first time.
This concludes my review, join me tomorrow when I reviewThe Magic School Bus Explores The Solar System sorry but I'm going to hold this over until January because I have no time to do a complete playing today, so it looks like the last three reviews I'll have will be for three of the Oregon Trail games for PC.
