Soccer Review by: Eddy88 - 6/10
Soccer (NES)Soccer!Sports... Who doesn't enjoy doing (or at least, watching) some sport? Even though if you don't practice any sport, We can't deny that the same are an important part on the life of a human. Just imagine the life without sports... Boring and pretty unhealthy, huh? (Unhealthy, more than anything). After all, doing sport is fun... And it gets funnier if you can practice one with some friends... However, if you are lazy enough to go outside and do something, you can always play some video game based on a Sport (It won't be the same thing, though). That's where today's game makes it's presentation... Today, I'm going to review "Soccer", released for the NES on 1985. If you are interested... Keep reading, please!
Story: Nothing important to say about it... No, Literally. There's no story. It's just playing and that's all. (N/A)
Graphics: Okay... Let's see what we can say here... Hmm, Well... Graphics are pretty simple... Yes, Pretty simple. It's just a green floor, I mean, it's just the grass (because that doesn't look like grass, really) With some lines, and the two goals. Oh, and the players. Who look all the same. Excepting for the color of their clothes and skin... As I said, Simple. However, at least this is forgivable, because this game was released on the first years of the NES. (6/10)
Sound: As the Graphics... Pretty simple. There aren't many songs on the game. There are only five of these: The title screen theme, the team selection screen, the music that plays on a match, on the Half Time, and when one of the teams win. That's all... SFX, Well, It doesn't sounds like the kind of sounds you would hear on a real match. Just listen when one of the players kicks the ball, or when the same travels through the air... Weird. (7/10)
Addictiveness: This? Addictive? You gotta be kidding me... This game isn't addictive. I know, this game was made on the first years of the NES... But, I think they could have done something better, at least here. (5/10)
Depth: Time to see the depth... As soon you turn on the console with the game in, a very colorful screen with the title of the game appears... Nice, huh? There are two game modes: For one player, and for two players... That's all... No Championship mode or something like that. It's just one match, Vs the computer, or, Vs another person... Okay, after starting a game, we can configure the settings of the match: We can select the amount of time of the same, the difficulty, and the team we can play with. (We can choose between: USA, Great Britain, France, West Germany, Brazil, Spain, and Japan) Once we've finished with the settings, the match will start... If you have played (or at least, watched) a soccer match, I bet you should know what's the objective: Score by driving the ball into the opposing field. The controls are simple: By pressing "B", You'll pass the ball (If you don't have the ball, it will change of player) and with "A", you'll shoot it... If the match ends on a draw, you'll have to shoot penalties, to declare the winner... And that's how you play. (6/10)
Difficulty: Easy game... Very easy. Winning a match against the computer shouldn't be very hard. (5/10)
Final Rating: 6Not one of the best games for the NES out there... But at least is pretty decent and fun to play... For a while.
