Monopoly review and comparsion Welcome to my review of Monopoly For The Sega genesis/mega drive.
The Classic Fun, Token , Cash, and Property Game!.
Monopoly was very few of those games, Known to be very popular as just one of those basic regular, Board games, for families and others etc. Now before it hit the consoles, There was the original board types of the game. Then the series Would start hitting Classic really old Computers like Ms dos. This franchise, was A great success, and one of the very few games that keeps Hasbro company were they are today. There were even Ports on the Nes, Master system, even later had a 3d game released for the Windows platform. This series just kept going on and on. in matter to reviewing many versions of this classic property trading family/board game, Here we have the Sega Genesis Version of the game, Which this game also was released on the snes, and finally after Playing both versions, I realized they are both very similar in aspects of the game.
The Visuals were in general Pretty good for A genesis title, this part of the game is the first part of similar things that this port has in comparison to the sine's version, The graphics Are really similar looking at both conversions, The only difference, I had spotted between the two ports, was that as usual, The Genesis Looked slightly more darker redder and in general more washed out. The intro: The intro of this game is pretty basic, It's basically The Monopoly guy walking around, on some part of the street over and over again, with the obvious monopoly logo. Until you hit the start button. So there's Nothing too special about the intro. The characters and tokens: Now if you look at the sine's and genesis version of each character select, you'll see what I've meant by the genesis version looked more washed out, Because characters look more smoother on the snes version, The genesis has them more darker and more saturated. as for the token parts both of them have equally good looking tokens. The genesis version of the tokens have a bit more of a green part on the shadows, and in general look a bit more pixelated. The board: Now a striking Difference between each of the board parts of the snes, and genesis version. Look at each board with the monopoly logos. The genesis version Has a nice colorful looking green board, but on the snes version, The snes port has a Plan looking grey board, Which is kind of hard on my eyes and not very great to look at. Animation: Both versions Have various animation during each of the scenes that happen when you buy stuff, land on chances or community chest, or even land on the go to jail, another difference during the jail time animation, The snes has more frames and more parts of animation during the jail cutscene, Both versions looked pretty good. When each animation happened, because they both looked pretty smooth for the time being. Overall in total score to the genesis graphics, I'll give it a nine out of ten
Sound: Both the snes and Genesis versions, Had good sound effects, when landing on various things like water works and other stuff etc. I mainly liked it because of how decent it sounded, and that's because it just fitted with how everything in the background looks. Soundtrack: I'll admit I prefer the genesis version of this soundtarck over the snes, for some natural known reasons. One I kind of prefer the more bass part in the theme's, were in the snes version, the bass is kind of slient, and the genesis version of the tunes don't sound nearly as harsh as the snes version did. in general Some of the tunes are pretty nice and cool sounding like the intro theme and auction theme, Because of the neat compostion, that they have, And even some of the small tunes that play when landing on certain objects or properties sound really good, because it just sounds pretty decent and peaceful little tunes, I just really enjoy them. Sound rating scored a ten out of ten for this game.
Addictiveness: This Game is fun to play once in a while, in general I don't consider Monopoly to be one of those main games you would wanna play every day or time, I'm just saying, In other words, monopoly is a fun game, but I consider it fun to play every once in a while, I mainly find this game fun for the game play and random chances of luck that you may or may not get during this time, Game play: You basically take turns with up to like 7 other players or more, if I can recall correctly, and the main way to play the game is to roll a dice, the dice controls how many spaces you move. And you need a lot of properties and other stuff etc, to win the game, (note to those whom have net play.. This game will only support 2 players on net play for right now) addictiveness five out of ten for this game.
Story: No story to this game what so ever. Besides becoming the most richest player in the game. So Skipping storyline rating...
Depth: The depth of the game Mainly depends on how long you survive with you're cash and properties and other stuff etc. So this game can actually go on for many hours, depending on how skilled you and you're friends and cpu are. I remember playing the pc version of this and actually I would go against someone of my family I lost, and Still the game lasted for 2 hours and 30 minutes, So again the depth depends on skill. Depth rating ten out of ten
Difficulty: If you have friends this game can probably be a very challenging time, but as for ai difficulty the Ai is very cheap and some what easy to nitpick. With certain deals and what not. In other word the ai is pretty darn easy, Difficulty rating five out of ten. Pretty easy game.
Overall Monopoly for the genesis is a pretty good game. Overall rating 8.5
