Fire Emblem-Seisen no Keifu Review Sayanos
Fire
Emblem-Seisen no Keifu lives up to the standard of the other Fire emblem titles
as well as turn based strategy games in general. With great story, graphics and
the game play you’ve come to expect from the Fire emblem series; it’s a game
you really don’t want to miss out on.
Having come out on 14 May 1996, this game
offers the quality of turn based strategy that it’s 3 predecessors had once
given in the past. The Super Nintendo got one heck of a gem with this title and
it’s quite a shame that it never got an American release.
Now that we’ve
gotten that out of the way, let’s get onto the review.
10/10
Graphics: In the graphics department this game is no slouch, having its debut
in the super famicom system (Super Nintendo) the game offers solid animations
for battle and distinctive sprites for all
of your character’s, distinguishing who is who is no problem in the game. Maps are
solid as well with everything in them being pretty detailed; you can tell
something for what it is in the map 100% of the time. Considering this is a game
that came out in 1996 and on the super famicom makes these graphics amazing.
9.3/10 Music-sound: Music wise this game also packs
a punch with scores that go with the scenes that are being presented to you. If
a death occurs in the game its music switches from what it was to a sad tune,
if you’re winning and have killed every enemy on the map the music is festive,
just like in any other installment of the series.
Sound is alright;
don’t have much to say about it because it’s simply that, alright. It’s not too
good and not too bad. In other words, it’s decent.
8.9/10Addictiveness: I’m a big fan of these
types of games so in my case, and surely in the case of many other turn based
strategy gamers like myself this title is pure bliss. I have played some other
of the Fire Emblem titles and thank God this one has a save feature during
every chapter, making it possible for you not to lose your units and have to
replay the chapter over again and again because you lose… 1 unit. This makes it less infuriating and more enjoyable
as well as more addictive since you don’t wish to pull every strand of your hair
out whenever you make a mistake.
8/10Story: Great story, yet a bit complicated and
if you don’t put in too much attention you might not be able to keep up with
it. It is also extremely dark, giving not so subtle hints into incest; since
younger audiences are probably not going to get too into the story to be able
to see this or be playing this game then this is fine, but it’s still there for
more mature audiences to think about. When all is said and done, the story still
keeps great quality and, if you’re up for a lot of Reading, it will keep you
very entertained from start to finish.
10/10 Depth: Rock, paper, scissors anyone? But
really, it’s what the game boils down to when you are in the fray. Not that
there’s anything wrong with that, no, not at all; in fact, this game is great
for this reason as well. Simplicity in weapon vs. weapon mechanics which leads
to complex battles in which you have to decide which units to move into which position,
which units will be used to attack and which you deem too injured to continue
to battle so you pull them back. Battle formations and good attack patterns are
a must if you wish for all of your units to live through a fight and that makes
every single turn exciting and rewarding if you get it right.
Leveling your characters, buying weapons for
them, having them fight in the arena, having the different interactions between
them etc… This game will keep you invested throughout
10/10Difficulty: With every fire emblem game
comes the horrid way you feel when you lose a unit; this one being a more
lenient version with turn to turn save, but still, it hurts. Though, this can also
be a curse instead of a blessing since you have to find a way to beat the area
with the save you made… If you made a big mistake and saved it? Good luck sir
xD. It’s difficult, very difficult, as it should be. With several castles attacking
you it can get overwhelming, but not at all impossible and it’s VERY satisfying
when you beat missions that were challenging to you.
Controls are what you’d expect from a Fire
Emblem, no need to fix what isn’t broke, you know? It’s not hard to get into or
hard to learn. The tutorials are in the towns on the first level or they tell
you what you need to know through small dialogues between characters, all in all,
easy to figure out what you have to do, hard to do it <3.
