Mega Man X6   The Planned Acc..
Overall: 8
This game is highly unliked by most people, and I can understand why. Some of the stages are frustratingly difficult. Some levels you can't just do extremely easily without a certain character or armor. But... I'll get to the difficulty later. Overall, unlike most, I actually kinda like this game. It really isn't too bad once you get down to it. I admit it has its share of frustrating parts, but it isn't really too bad. For being an alright overall game, I give this game an 8. It's really not that bad, guys.
Graphics: 8
In all honesty, I believe that this is the game's second best characteristic. It's slightly better than Mega Man X5's graphics. They were pretty awesome. Haha. I have never had a problem with a game because of its graphics, so in all honesty, I can't really complain. The graphics are much better than the 16-bit Super Nintendo graphics, but worse than the graphics of Mega Man X7 and Mega Man X8. So the graphics are in the middle, I'd say. They're really, again, like in my previous Mega Man X5 review, not the best graphics you'll ever see on the Playstation. So.. For being at a satisfying level of graphics for its time, I give Mega Man X6 an 8 for some pretty good graphics.
Sound: 9
I kinda regret saying that this is the game's best aspect, and yet I don't at the same time. This is the one feature that hasn't disappointed me once yet. Mega Man, overall has superb music. Each soundtrack the game had was either good or great. Personally, that's one thing about this game that I would never change. It's perfect the way it is. The reason the sound in this game is not a perfect 10 is because of this... Japanese voice actors. I don't know what they were thinking when releasing this game in the U.S.A and Europe with Japanese voice actors. None of us can understand what they were saying. I say that's just lazy developing techniques. First of all, it probably isn't too hard to just replace the poor voice acting with the little beeping sounds they had in Mega Man X5. It's just such a useless and unnecessary thing they added into the game. For having a great soundtrack, great sounds, but terrible voice acting, Mega Man X6's sound gets a 9. Not a bad score.
Addictiveness: 6
This is a Mega Man game. It's got its difficult parts, but really, when you get down to it, the actual game isn't really that long. Which I like. What I like most about the game is that you can get through the game without getting all the hidden items scattered throughout. It's a neat little feature that makes the game seem a lot longer than it actually is. Which boosts this game's re-playability. But in all honesty, this game really isn't too addictive. It's a varied chance. You may or may not want to play this game again depending on your tastes. But if you do, good luck to you. For varied gameplay, and for a not-so-addicting game... I give this game a 6, and I think that's being pretty generous given this game's frustrating properties.
Story: 5
This is the game's worst aspect. Do you know why? It's because this game technically should and shouldn't have been made. Some of the story elements that are displayed in this game are just awful. Some of them make me want to travel to Capcom headquarters and ask what the developers were thinking with some of the elements to the story. This game shouldn't have been made because technically, Mega Man X5 was supposed to be the last game of the series, but Capcom screwed it up later by making Mega Man X6. But this is also a good thing for Mega Man X fans because they get another game that they can play. But even then, the game's unliked by a lot of X fans. But thankfully, I think Capcom fixed what they did in X6 with the future games actually being the conclusion to the series. For being an unwanted game, and for terrible story elements, this game gets a 5. It's a good thing you fixed this, Capcom. Haha.
Depth: 8
Like I said in the addictiveness part of this review, this game has varied gameplay making the game seem longer or shorter than it actually is. For example, you can pursue the game normally, going for all of the upgrades, and items, making the game easier to traverse through the game's many obstacles. But if you're a player who's more fond of the more difficult side of Mega Man X, you would go through the game without getting any upgrades or power-ups whatsoever. Personally, I think it's an extremely difficult game even with the armor upgrades. I'm not even lying. If you try to go about this without getting the upgrades, I wish you good luck, because it's a difficult journey. For being a short game, but having obstacles that make the game seem tons longer, this game's depth gets an 8, because of its difficult, and varied gameplay.
Difficulty: 9
I'm not going to lie. This is one hard game. I remember as a small child I had the Playstation console with Mega Man X4, X5, and X6, and this game was by far the most difficult. I got so frusterated with this game it's not even funny. I beat Mega Man X4, and 5, but not this game, when I did have that Playstation. I remember that it broke before I could beat it. Which really stunk, because I liked this game. But anyways... One system in this game is the stupidest system Capcom has ever devised. The nightmare system. In order to gain an A or SA rank, you must kill these squid-like enemies called the nightmare. They drop these little ball-type items, and the more of those you collect, the higher your rank will be. It literally has nothing to do with your gameplay. You could die 8 times and still have an SA rank if you collect enough of the nightmare items. Other than that, the levels are still difficult, and some parts, it's tons easier to use another character. It also depends on if you try to collect all of the upgrades and items. If you do, the game's still pretty difficult. If you don't, the game's twice as hard. I suggest doing this with the items. Or else you'll have an extremely hard time beating this game. If you do try to beat this without any items or upgrades, good luck to you. For being an extremely difficult overall game, this game's difficulty gets a high score, 9.
Wrap things up...
This is a great game, in my opinion. Despite its terrible, and difficult features, I like playing this game. Despite its bad story elements, it also has good story elements too. Like plot twists, and plot scenes in general. This game addresses the plot more than any of the previous games. Which I like. A game with a good story is a game that I usually end up liking. If you haven't played this game, I recommend you play it despite its hardships. But if you don't want to, that's fine too. I can understand why. I bashed this game a lot in this review. I feel like I didn't discuss its good characteristics enough, but I'm sure your opinion will differentiate. If you do end up playing this, good luck to you. I hope you guys try this, and hope you'll have at least some fun playing. Haha.

Mega Man X6 review   tornadocam
Mega Man is back to save the world from Mavericks. Here is my take and review on Mega Man X6 so here we go.
Story: 6
The story is revealed reading the manual and the intro. It has been 3 weeks since the events of Mega Man X5. X and Zero saved the earth, defeated Sigma but only one of them returned (X). Gate who is a scientists with good intentions emerges to lead a team of reploids to repair the Earth. Gate comes to the wreckage of what appears to be Sigma's lab. He often wonders what happened was there a battle here? He makes the statement we can have no more sacrifices. However, Gate picks up either a piece of Sigma or something. Gate gets infected with the Sigma virus and becomes evil. He creates a nightmare ghost version of Zero. Uses his top researcher Isoc to lead other reploids into a trap. Gate has also resurrected 8 of his past reploids that were killed in the past. Okay you have that plot but then you get another plot if you find Zero. Yes Zero is playable in this game you just have to find him. I will not tell you how to find and unlock Zero because that would be spoiling. So here is the plot if you find Zero. Mega Man X is sent out to put an end to the nightmare and to bring Gate to justice. But not alone, X finds that Zero did not die, he hid and repaired himself. Isoc tells reploids to join them or they risk of being deleted by Gate. The reploids go to work for Gate and then end up getting in trouble due to the nightmare threat. Zero joins X and the two set off to end the nightmare. However, they find that Gate is being manipulated by Sigma. X and Zero must put an end to the nightmare, rescue reploids, bring gate to justice and defeat Sigma. They also discover that the nightmare deletes reploids similar to what happened years ago. Okay anybody confused yet? The plot did have some potential it adds suspense and mystery to the story. Now for my critique of the story. Seriously Capcom what were you thinking and Doing? This plot was so confusing that it turned a lot of people off from this would be great game. It seems like Capcom tried to make two plots into one. Not to mention this is the only X game that does not match the plot in the manual. The manual says it has been 3 years since the events of X5 but the intro to the game says 3 weeks. This tells me Capcom was really rushing this game. Here is how the Plot should have been to make this a good game. X finds out that Zero did not die and is reunited with his comrade. The two discover a new threat. Gate who was once a good scientists with good intentions, starts to investigate the battle scene. Gate finds a piece of debris with the Sigma Virus. The Sigma Virus consumes Gate. Gate thus causes the return of Sigma. Sigma than manipulates Gate into creating a ghost of Zero and the nightmare incident to lure reploids into getting possessed. Now that plot, would have been really good and would be more in line with other X plots. I do not know why we got what we got and what Capcom was thinking. Thus I give the plot of this game a 6 out of 10 and that is being gracious. The only thing that keeps it from getting a low rating is the suspense and drama.
Graphics: 8
The Graphics in this game was pretty good I thought. I really liked how the backgrounds have color to them. The stages change due to the nightmare. Some stages have rain, fireballs, large snow balls, metal plates, and the lights going out in them depending on the nightmare effect. Capcom really did good changing the stages like that. I really like how some of the stages sparkle and shine. The sprints in this game were also nicely done. X and Zero have their awesome sprints. But enemies also have their awesome sprints as well. The game does have some lags though. However, I did not notice the lags until the fortress stages, again this game was probably rushed. The controls vary and this is were the rating suffers just a bit. X's controls are very nice and smooth. But Zero he sometimes appears to be sluggish. In the past X games Zero was known for having very good controls that were smooth, but in this game he appears to be sluggish at times. So yeah, Zero being sluggish keeps this rating from being a 9 or a 10. Still, at the end of the day I give the graphics of this game a good rating of 8.
Sound: 9
The sound in this game is what makes X6 shine. This game had some good themed music. The Blizzard Stage and the Rain stage were my favorites in this game. I even liked the Museum stage. I found a lot of the stages had an upbeat tempo which was really nice.Gates Fortress and even sigma's stage had good music. X and Zero also have good sounds especially since both are using a saber in this game. They way the sound when they are fighting enemies makes them sound like they are serious. I also like the sound the enemies make, the way they fire their lasers was a nice touch. Moreover, there are no tingles in this game so that is a big plus for me. I do not like tingles at all. However, there is one annoying sound in this game and that is what keeps it from getting a perfect score. Every time X or Zero get hit they scream ow so many times its like they are in pain. Seriously Capcom did you have to make the two great hunters scream ow every time they get hit. I could understand X or Zero saying ow when they are about to lose all their health bars. But hearing ow every hit does get a little bit annoying. Therefore, that keeps the rating down from being a perfect 10.
Addictivenss: 7
Despite the flaws in the plot I really like this game. I do often play this game quite a bit despite the flaws as crazy as that may seem. No with that being said is this game up there with X2 and X3 no. X2 and X3 have a special place with me because those are my two favorite X games. Not to mention they were also big hits selling several copies. X6 is a good game so I do play it again but I think it has too many flaws to be in the league with X2 or X3. Still, I give this game a decent rating because It is fun to play and I do play it quite a bit, just not as much as the second and third game in the X series.
Depth: 8
Okay X6 had some depth to it and that is why I also like to play this game. The first thing that adds depth is you can find Zero. Finding Zero is pretty easy in this game. Second they are lots of reploids to rescue in the stages. When the player rescues one, the reploids can extend your health bar, give you extra lives, and even give you parts to enhance your attacks. In addition, you also have items to collect such as extra points on the health bar, parts and Dr. Light enhancements. This game gives you two armors to find in this game. Players if they enter a code can get the 3rd armor in this game. For X you have the blade armor and then the shadow armor parts to find. Every stage has at least one part. 4 stages with have the blade parts the other 4 have the shadow part. You can also collect souls. Okay collecting souls is a little creepy. But, if you destroy enough of the nightmare enemies you can collect their souls. The souls also improve your power, yeah creepy I know. So X6 had a lot to offer in this game. So you may be wondering why did I not give this a perfect 10 here is the thing. They make finding zero so easy in this game so why it is part of the mission the makers of this game are handing it to you to find him. Also some of the items are in plain sight. So those two things is what kept me from giving this a solid score.
Difficulty: 10
Another part were this game shines is the difficulty. I have played the first game through the 6th and I have even played the eighth some. Of all the X games I have played this one is the hardest. In fact, this game is so difficulty that some players were turned off from this game because of its difficulty. I even remember seeing this game compared to Battletoads in difficulty yeah that says a lot. The enemy placement in this game can be a nightmare. It is so easy to have enemies surround you and just wear you down. In addition, some of the special weapons, buster or even the saber do not have an effect on them. While playing this game so many times I died just due to getting surrounded. Also the enemies in this game hurt more than they do in other X games and their attacks are more powerful. Another thing that adds the difficulty is you have to rescue all the reploids. If a reploid gets possessed with a nightmare than that reploid is considered to have been killed. Some players including myself are irritated with that. You also have to rescue pretty much all of them to get all the power ups in this game. The maverick bosses in this game were pretty tricky to beat mainly because of their powerful attacks. But a lot of them are really fast. Some of the mavericks have small hit boxes as well. The fortress stages are a pain to get through so when you go through them be sure you have extra lives. Item collection can be a pain in this game at times. Some of the items are in plain sight but others are not. Some of the items have to require nightmare effects to get, special skills, special weapons and enhancements to get. It should be noted you may lose a live while getting them because you guessed it Capcom put death spikes around some of them. So yeah this was a very hard game. I like difficult games but sometimes this just gets irritating. X6 really test the players skill, creativity and most of all a lot of luck to beat this game.
Overall: 8.9
Mega Man X6 has its flaws but it is still a good game. However, this game could have been a huge seller and been up there with X1-X4 in terms of sells had it not been for the flaws. This game came out I think in late 2001. The original play station was at its peak and being replaced with the Play Station 2 counsel. I really feel like Capcom rushed this game. The plot is so confusing that a lot of players were turned off. I will be honest having two plots under one plot is not only confusing but it kind of ruins the story. It could be though that Keiji Inafune, who was the director and creator of all the Mega Man games, did not know this game was released or being made. Capcom made this game without him even knowing it till it was put out on the market. I think that might have do with some of the flaws in this game. The graphics were mostly good in this game accept for the controls. I know a lot of people do not like this game, but I enjoyed it. It is probably my 3rd or 4th favorite game in the X series. But enough about the negatives I'm going to be talking about the positives. This game tried to offer something new by having a nightmare effect instead of just having Sigma try to take over the world. Sigma is doing that in this game but its not stated the first time till you find Zero. The game had an awesome soundtrack as well as awesome backgrounds. In addition, this game had a lot of depth to it which I really like. I also like the difficulty in this game. I love games that challenge the player. Now would I recommend this game despite its flaws. Yes I would recommend this game. Again it is not up there with X2 or X3 in my opinion just has a few flaws. But, this is still a good game and it is fun to play. So yeah I would recommend this game. I give this game a decent rating of 8.9

How to screw up difficulty for a game A.K.A. Mega Man X6 Review   vaderzlk11
Oh. My. Freaking God. While I have seen some hard Mega Man/Rockman games, this one perhaps stands out as one of the hardest Mega Man/Rockman games ever. Hope you're ready, because this one will cause me to rant at some point.
Introduction: After Keiji Inafune managed to finish X5, he wanted it to be the final game in the series and move on to develop the Mega Man/Rockman Zero series. However, according to him, "And so I’d always planned to make Zero come back to life in the Mega Man Zero series, but then X6 comes out sooner from another division and Zero comes back to life in that, and I’m like, 'What’s this!? Now my story for Zero doesn’t make sense! Zero’s been brought back to life two times!" This, of course, was a massive understatement. Because of the strict development schedule (barely even a year!), it had some massive things that annoyed players. In spite of the mixed reception, X6 managed to sell 106k units by the end of 2001.
Graphics: I do have to admit, the 2D graphics of the ps1's time was good, but some character graphics don't match up well (e.g. Blaze Heatnix, Infinity Mijinion), though the stage design corresponds very well to the bosses. Also, the 3d CGI graphics also return (Nightmare Snake anyone?), and like X5, clashes with the art style. The intro animation and cutscene pictures also look very well designed. I give this part a 7 out of 10 (Nightmare Snake).
Sounds:I do have to admit, the Japanese voice acting sounds very good, although some of them are ruined by the constant yelling (e.g. X's yelling when damaged, Infinity Mijinion's babbling). Also, the sound effects are also very good. Also, the music sounds very good like its predecessor, and did you know that they actually kept the J-Pop soundtracks for the American version instead of replacing them with generic American rock? Even with that, they still sound very awesome. I give this part a 8 out of 10 (Showtaro Morikubo).
Addictiveness: HECK NO. The difficulty, which I will mention below, has made me not want to play the game ever again aside from the fact that I can use codes to play as Ultimate Armor X and Black Zero. I give this part a 1 out of 10 (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0h8Z-L0JjkI)
Story: One of my personal criticisms of the game is that the story is convoluted and inplausible. Of course, since I'm not allowed to post important plot points in the game, I'll post it later in my guide (which I will do in my free time). Also, the entire premise is just about the same, but with a twist: You jump and shoot, but also get Nightmare Souls and save reploids. I give this part a 3 out of 10 (What A Twist!)
Depth: There's a lot this game has to offer, such as rescuing reploids in exchange for certain parts and power-ups, Sub Tanks, and Armors. By the way, you can also increase your rank by collecting Nightmare Souls, which in turn, gives you a higher rank that lets you equip more parts. The maximum rank for this game is a UH (Ultimate Hunter), in which have to collect, and I'm not kidding, 9999 Nightmare Souls, which is the maximum amount you can get for a character for a game. Good luck with that! I give this part a 8 out of 10 (Survival Necessity).
Difficulty: Do I have to explain everything about this one? Well, short story, Awkward Design = Xtreme Difficulty on Easy Mode. Long story is that due to the rushed stage designs, some end up impossible to beat without the use of certain parts, which are obtained from reploids. Keep in mind that reploid can be killed or infected. If that reploid is gone, well you're on your own! The only reason why I gave this one a 9 rather than a 10 is because you can use certain weapons to make your way through the entire game, and some can be used for exploitation. Also, the bosses are rather easy (Aside from Infinity Mijinion). And good luck if you attempt this game with unarmored X without taking damage AND achieving 100%! Speaking of that, the last time i attempted 100%, it took me at least 400 save state loads and 100 deaths to beat this game. Yes, IT'S THAT HARD. No, really! http://www.vizzed.com/vizzedboard/retro/user_screenshots/saves15/150549/PLAYSTATION--Mega%20Man%20X6%20_Mar5%2020_24_21.png I give this part a 9 out of 10 (Insert Rage Face Here).
Conclusion: My final rating for this game is a 5.8 out of 10 (Dark Souls). Just like Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night is a spiritual successor to Castlevania, X6 is a spiritual successor to Dark Souls (at least in terms of when it took place). Why? Because like Dark Souls, they are both really hard. They also contain some awkward stage design. The controls for those games are frustrating at times. The music is great in those. The story is complex and requires some other timeline to explain it all. They also have a lot of depth in those games. The only fact that hindered X6 from being a true spiritual successor to Dark Souls is that X6 at least has a pause button. While it's not that horrible, it really is a letdown of the entire 5th Generation Mega Man/Rockman games.

I've played this game one time, years ago, on a MMX Collection. And it seems that the only people that dislike the game are those accustomed to ENG V.A. I love JAP V.A. since it's fast-paced but smooth speech. It's not BAD V.A., It's just not ENG.
