I have moved apartments several times with my wife but we finally moved a house for the first time. My 3 year old now has a new big house to play in and she really likes it. My 1 year old daughter doesn't care one way or another. But now we have two-story house, so she has stairs to kill herself on.

Has anyone else moved? Did you like the old house or the new house more? What do you remember from it?

That's awesome. As a kid, moving to a new place is  very exciting until you end up moving over 20 times- my case. I lost count after 20, truly. We used to move from a rented home from a friend of my mother's to our actual house that my mom owned. We did that close to 16 times then, moved to a two bedroom home in town all 7 of us- it was a challenge but, we were happy. Then, she rented a home where we went about twice a week in the  morning and leave to our other rented house at night. Then, we moved to the United States with my sister then, move to our apartment then, moved to a bigger apartment then, moved to a smaller apartment then, I moved on my own renting rooms- changing places once every two weeks then, I got an apartment and lived there for about 2 years then, I moved to a trailer for several months then, I moved to my current home which I am very happy in and hope to stay for another year. It was a pain always packing as often as we did but, one good thing about it is, I don't get attached to a place; my home is wherever I am. Hope you guys enjoy your home!!!!

Indeed I have. In fact for the first twenty six years of my life I moved into something like thirty houses, if you count a few trailers and three apartments. More than that if moving in with friends temporarily counts. And I'm omitting several places that I was too young to remember as well. Insanity is what it is.

I always hate the moving and the searching for a place to move to, but I usually enjoy being in a new place quite a bit. For the first several months it's fun getting to know the ins and outs of a new place, and the change in scenery and neighborhood is fun. Still, I'd like more stability than I've been allowed to enjoy thus far. Oh well, take the bad with the good I suppose.

Congrats on your new house though. Glad to hear you're liking it.

I've moved seven times before. Out of those, only 3 houses stand out, the one I'm living in currently, included. The house I'm living in now was built in 1882 and has a lot of history, so it's exciting learning about it.

I'm not really a huge fan of moving though. Packing and actually moving everything can be so stressful.

Hope you and your family enjoy the new house!

I've moved several times. About 15 years ago I moved 2200 miles across country driving the moving truck while towing my car behind. Over the rocky mountains, continental divide, etc.

To make a long story short, I HATE moving lol

I have moved a few times. I used to live with my grandparents, but when my stepdad-to-be came down, we moved to another town. But when things went south there, we then moved to where we live now.

Although I will also count the three years I went to university as well - at the start of each year, I moved into the studio flat I had, and I moved out at the end of said year due to Uni rules.

I have moved three times in my life. It was quite the experience. I used to live in a totally different state when I was a baby. Then we moved to a really rough neighborhood because of some work related decisions. We didn't know the area very well...Then a few years later we moved to the other side of the city. It isn't quite so bad here. I really like my house, even though it needs a lot more work put into it.

As with everything, your lodging is a matter of choices and preferences. When we moved to our house in 2011, it was from a one bedroom apartment inside a narrow 20+ stories building. At first we loved the ample room we had, but realized that it was too big for the two of us and our cat. Not only is it hard to clean it all, but the upstairs area is ALWAYS hotter than downstairs, which makes it expensive to maintain at a good temperature to sleep. The backyard would be perfect for anyone who likes gardening vegetables and fruits (we have a giant sour cherry tree), but it's a LOT of maintenance.

Now that I moved for a new job, I would definitely go for a condo rather than a house.

I've lived all over the place. I was born in Chilliwack, BC (Canada), and moved to Colorado Springs, CO (US) within 6 months of being born. Within 6 months of living there, though, we moved back to Chilliwack due to skin conditions that have been with me since birth. We moved to Warner Robins, Georgia (US) for a year and a half or two when I was 2, and then moved to Abbotsford, BC (Canada) for another couple years. We then moved back to Chilliwack until 2010, when we moved down to Gainesville, FL (US), and we've lived here ever since. I move out in a week to a place nearby to where I currently live, and that will be my 7th move.

I moved quite a lot of times.

I lived in a Condo with my parents in Nevada when I was born.

At 2, We moved to Oregon after traveling to various states, we settled in an old looking house that had some mold and raccoons underneath our house.

At 10, After a roommate duped us out of a house which had us forced to move, We lived in a big house in Nevada that was like a mile and a half away from the school I attended.

At 10, Two months later, I got to live in a condo with my mom and my dad's house.

At 13, Mom and I lived at Mom's friends house in Nevada and I would live at my dad's house every two weeks.

At 14, my dad moved into a nicer home and lived there and my mom's friends house.

At 16, Because my mom and I missed Oregon, Mom and I stayed with my mom's ex friends in a million dollar home while trying to find a place to stay for two months.

At 17, after being forced to find one within 3 days which had me witness my mom the most stressed I've ever seen her, we found our place and it's pretty nice and fun living in.

At 17, A month after settling into Mom's place, I lived with my dad for 6 months to catch up on some appointments and to take a break from where I was at due to being stressed out from that move.

And A week and a half ago, I went back with my mom to Oregon.

I have only permanently moved houses once but I was too young to remember it and have no memories of the time before I started living at my current location. I have lived for a few months with my grandparents though when I was younger in Gotland (which is an island to the east of mainland Sweden) so I guess you could consider that as having moved houses. I've seen a ton of people come and go from the area I live in now though.

I have never moved, and seeing the replies to this thread I feel grateful for being able to spend 24 years at the same place.

The only time we moved was temporarily because our flat was being remodeled. We moved to live with my paternal grandmother (rest in peace) who lived diagonally from us at the other side of the street for what seemed an eternity for my young self a couple months or so. I barely have memories of that time because it was way more than 15 years ago, but I always feel nostalgic when I see old videos of how or flat used to be before the remodelling I've always known.

I'll someday have to move out, but given how it's not easy to get a place to live around here I'll either have to move several times or take more time to leave until I can secure a place to settle down for a long time. Either way, detaching myself from what has been my home for so long will be a tough step, I'm so used to this neighborhood that moving out could almost be like going to another country.

I had to move to a different house twice in my lifetime. I've always lived in the state of Ohio, but I've moved to different parts of the state in my lifetime.
