"Hour of Code is a global movement that reaches millions of students in 180+ countries..."[and] is available in over 45 languages" (code.org).It takes place every year during Computer Science Education week which this year will be December 5-11. Why December? Because it is an annual recognition of the birthday of computing pioneer Admiral Grace Murray Hopper (Dec 9, 1906).
Should mention, that you can host your own Hour of Coding all year long!
It's like a Coding Awareness Movement- about time right! We need a RetroGaming Movement now!!
It's not actual coding language but, more of a planing process- at least the first stages are- I have not fully completed it yet. Also, you get two coding options! One as you see below is more of commands, loops, and the other involves actual interaction between characters! There are many different Hour of Codes: Star Wars, Amazing World of Gumball, Make a Flappy game...so many!
I just read this on Bing News today and I am hyped. It is cool, you get to "code" Minecraft first you start with simple things like commanding what a chicken does when spawned, once completed, you move to loops then, a more difficult coding stage. In between those stages, you'll see a short clip of the Developers and the people behind Minecraft (that lady on my picture below to the far bottom left is one of the developers and you get to know a little about her).
There's a lot to do on that site I suggest you check it out and BE PART OF THE MOVEMENT
Hour of Code This site is very cool, check out the main page for more cool stuff.
Edit: (How many times did I use cool in this post?lol)
