      A couple years ago, Nintendo developed what might be the greatest Mario game in the history of the franchise: Super Mario Maker. Super Mario is great and all, but I have not even bothered to be a WiiU for the sake of getting it because I just don't have the money right now. However, after watching tons of Game Play videos, I can tell just by seeing it that I would have a great time playing it. But I digress.
   Now as a life-long Sonic fan (all 18 years of it), I despise the difficulty SEGA would have developing a Sonic Level Maker to compete with Sonic's rival mascot. But logic would say that Sonic levels, even the 8-bit Game Gear ones are a little too complex for an average gamer to build a fantastic level. I'm not dissing any of you awesome gamers out there, but it just might not be very practical.
   It may not be the best of ideas but I think there is one possible way that SEGA could make a Sonic Level Maker. What if they used the isometric world of Sonic 3D Blast, and dare say it, Sonic Labyrinth (only the textures and assets). Therefore there would be a 16-bit and an 8-bit map to use. You might be thinking the horrors of tons of levels of collecting flickies and keys. But you would be able to design your own level. You could make an isometric replica of Green Hill Zone and have a single path all the way to the goal. And maybe the character would automatically catch the key or flicky when he defeats a badnik. So they could have badnik assets, and they could have isometric versions of all the classic badniks to place in the area. You know those cannon things from Sonic 3D Blast? You could make a level that consists of finding the cannons and launching over to the next island. If you miss any flickies or keys and reach the goal, it will warp you back to the start, or the creator can place warp points at any point in the stage. What's more, you would have Eggman bosses to add. Imagine making Sonic fight two of the bosses from the first Sonic 3D Blast Zone at the same time. Also, loops are single assets that look just like how they are in the game. All you would have to do is rotate it in the direction you want it to face, connect it with the path somehow, add the speed booster thing and that's all! Instead Loop-d-Loop! And just like in Super Mario Maker, the level would have to be beatable for it to be uploaded online.
   What do you think? Do you think a Sonic game like this would be possible? Do you think it would be fun? If it was possible, what would you want added or not added to the game? As always, thanks for reading!

I think its absolutely a possibility and I personally think it could be awesome.
Sonic seems like it would be fitting for a level maker. And judging by Mario Maker, there would be some amazing levels... and of course the terrible ones. ^^;

I was thinking about this myself. I think a game like this can bring sonics name back from the Brink. I personally think it would be more enjoyable than super Mario maker. Making huge slides and loops and stuff. It just sounds like a great time. Sonic isn't dead yet. I still have faith that he will be big one day. I mean its simple. Just make give him his old 2d plat former form back.

I think it would be possible, but then Sega would totally be aping Nintendo and would receive a lot of criticism for it.

taterii :
Yeah but it's not like they haven't done it back then.

*Cough* Sonic Party  I mean Sonic shuffle*hack*

Personally It wouldn't be the same actually,  anyone who's been on Sega and Nintendo's side or both know that Mario and Sonic games control very differently.
