I'm really surprised that a thread hasn't been made to talk about the fact that there's a fan project made to completely re-do Ocarina of time into a 2D game. Totally re-programmed with sprites that would remind you more of "A link to the Past" and more recently, "A Link Between Worlds"

Which honestly is MY VERY FAVORITE Zelda game of all time. Yes, I like ALTTP more than Ocarina of time. Don't get me wrong, I love both games. I just prefer the feel of the 16bit game. I certainly think these types of games have aged better than early 3D games.

They have several screenshots up and even a trailer. Take a look and let me know what you think!

Fingers crossed that Nintendo doesn't Nix this, similar to what happened with that AWESOME Sonic fan project that got the axe from Sega for similar reasons.

This looks great! I am really excited for this project. Mainly because 2D graphics, unlike 3D, don't age like milk. Plus I always kind of preferred sprite games. I really hope this ends up being a good fangame. The only complaint I have is that player 2 isn't Sheik. Come on you guys!!!

This is awesome! I had heard some other people say "what if there was a 2D OOT?" or "Wouldn't it be cool if there was a 2D OOT?" but I didn't know that was actually a thing. I'm totally looking forward to it. I had a similar idea for a total rebuild of OOT on the DC, that way you could take advantage of the relatively massive amount of power from the console, and you could even burn your own games. Only issues with that are that I don't know squat about making a game, and there aren't enough buttons on a DC controller. I also thought it would be cool to make a DC rebuild of FFVII with some realistically modeled characters, but I'm thinking a 2D FFVII remake (that isn't NES) would be easier.

I'm super excited to see the initial beta release of this project. I know that sadly, the stuff being released this winter isn't the "final" game rather just what they have completed until this point. With winter winding to a close soon, I'm wondering when a DL will be made available.
