A recent trend in the music industry is to purchase their music via vinyl records. This has been accentuated by an annual event known as "Record Store Day".

Artists everywhere have been making their newest albums available via vinyl more than ever.

Not just old people do it either, it's becoming a hobby that many people do from all walks of life.

This allows for more collecting possibilities, better sound quality, and a nice large disk to flaunt your favorite album with.

So do you do it? Do you make trips to your local record shop? Do you make an effort to get that favorite album of yours on vinyl?

I just started myself. I recently bought Deadmau5's album "4x4=12".

Not really. I mean I have always wanted to collect records but I have never had the extra money to do so. If I ever get to where I have money I can blow one day I might consider buying some records but other than that, it will have to wait. I have always thought it was cool how people fall into different trends. It's just the works of things though. Hopefully one day I can follow into all these trends but the trends will probably be over by then.

I used to.  Not recent ones, but old stuff like plays and old school music.  Huey Lewis and the News, Mormon Tabernacle Choir, and all that jazz (and other genres).  I should really pull them out sometime.

If there's an album that I really want to collect then I will buy one, but I don't have the money for it, and there's only like two or three people who I would even consider buying them from. I have seen a lot lately in Barnes and Nobel the last couple of weeks.

I love Vinyl. The sound is great. Certainly better than buying that crud on iTunes. No compression=the way the band/artist wanted you to hear their music in the first place. It's a more expensive hobby, but one that is more true to music itself.

I have an old record player from the Cold War era, pulled out from somewhere behind the Iron Curtain.

I'm fascinated with the thing, and I love to collect vinyl records and listen to how music was all those years ago. It's great to see the hobby return in recent years.

The last album I bought was Smash (The Offspring), and only to have it in my collection. Otherwise I don't pay as much attention to music as I used to do. If anything, I get most of it over Youtube and create playlists according to when that tune was popular.

I might consider buying them online because they are cheaper, but not for now

I don't buy them, but my parents do. We have a really old record player (that maybe still works) and we have a whole lot of records that we could play on it. It is really cool, as I haven't seen any other record players in my life time, they are just so rare lol.

I don't buy records. When I want to listen to music, I either listen to it on my ipod or listen to it on my laptop.  I do know some people who still listen to records though.

I have never bought a record before but I did want to have one at one point when my dad use to be a dj.

He has a library of old records that he doesn't really play / touch anymore because he no longer has turntables. The turntables eventually stopped working dude to age. My dad doesn't really have the extra money to upgrade his equipment sadly. So he normally listens to his music from the pc.

I used to go to a cd store to buy cd's but there cd's are somewhat expensive so when I discovered itunes I can download the single cd's songs that I want to listen to, instead of buying the album and its cheap to.

We have a cabinet full of old records thanks to dad and grandpa's hobby. They'll start playing classical music/instrumental records and the whole household will hear the music (usually on Sundays). I'm not sure if they'd be happy with me suddenly using the player for current musics though. For one thing, dad hates hard rock musics.

Not too much. It's a money thing. Believe it or not though, when I was a lot younger, ALBUMS were the less-expensive choice. Almost always a dollar cheaper than a cassette. So I have a bunch from the 80's, but I haven't bought any new releases in a decade at least. Maybe two. I did buy a like-new copy of an old album form the early 80s a few months back though. FEAR- The Record.

Although it's never been completely gone from my family, I started collecting records on my own from scratch right when vinyl was getting popular again. Since then, I've taken numerous trips to my local record stores and other places that sell them. Whenever I plan to invest in a new album, I try my best to get it on vinyl. As of now, my collection of phonographic discs exceeds 200 units. Having a large, physical medium helps me connect with the music more as I need to take some good time to listen.

I don't buy any vinyl records, but it would be very cool if I did. Hopefully someday I can do that and keep it safe after I grow tired of the music on it. That way I can show my kids the cool vinyl records I have when they start getting into music.
