Super Metroid is possibly the perfect 2D game ever made. The level immersion is amazing, the graphics can still combat those of games today, and the sequences will blow your mind. The story is told through the level design and the exploration of the player, not forcing a story down your throat.

Metroid Prime was the first 3D metroid game, and is pretty much based off of the same formula that Super was. The thing that brings this game to the table though, is its amazing storytelling and the FLAWLESS transition from 2D to 3D. The story of Prime is told through scanning objects and level design. The player can choose to learn more about the story and the world by scanning objects. It being the first metroid game of its kind, Prime really took the cake for me. It took the amazing game Super was, and it flawlessly transitioned it into 3D with amazing graphics, as well as expanded upon what made Super metroid a great game. Prime in my opinion is superior only because it is a better version of Super Metroid. Everything people loved about Super Metroid was revised in Prime with way more realistic graphics and fuller immersion.
