I FINALLY want a permanent job. Last year, I landed two consecutive internships, but despite my best efforts I couldn't land a permanent job. Should I fail to find one in journalism/blogging, at least I might have a chance for one in linguistic reviewing

For this year, I'm hoping I can start earning money from doing chores or work for people I know. I'm also hoping to become a better leader, and I'm taking a class during high school that will give me quite a bit of help to do so.

I'd like to become a veterinarian or a worker at an animal shelter since animals have always been a part of my life (literally since the day after I was born!) and I'm almost always great at taking care of them.

I really want to write a book, if possible. I want to base it on what I've learned from my problems and experiences. I'll have to pray a lot through it, since any book attempts I've made so far have been highly unsuccessful.

I also want to continue to write short stories and market them, if possible. I feel the most important thing is to get them out there, though.

Lastly, I want to compose music. We have some audio equipment I could use to make stuff. I want to make the most of it.

I'm hoping to buckle down this year and work hard at all of my current commitments instead of starting anything new.

That includes Vizzed, classes, spending time with family and friends, and extracurriculars.

I'm also hoping to put myself on a more serious daily schedule, so I can save more time for winding down.

In essence, I plan to be highly productive this year.

That's great.

I looked into it one time, just to see how well I could fare at such a thing. I mean, not to brag, but I've put a lot of words on this site, to things like debates, fanfics, RPs, and Game theories. Writing and story making is a fun hobby, to make money off of it would be great.

So, I sat down, still divided if I wanted to continue my current project of a PC game, or if I wanted to try and write a story.

I grabbed a relatively successful title.

Dune.

Started flipping through the pages.


By calculating the average amount of words per line, how many lines were on a page, and how many pages were in a book, I was able to get the magical numbers.

To write a book about the size of the Dune book I picked out would be 160,000 words.

Grabbing a smaller book from my younger brother's room, I picked out Star Wars, The New Jedi Order.

Some story about the Yuzaan Vong, aliens from another Galaxy attacking the New Republic. This book was also one entry in a triology.

Anyways, when I did the same calculations for this book, I came out with a different number.


135,000 words.


Most books have about 12 - 20 chapters, depending on the size, an average of 10,000 - 12,000 words right?


I find I can make an 8,000 word chapter once every week, and have refined it the next.

If I can refine one chapter a week, as well as write one, within 14 weeks, I could have written a whole book.


That's what I've gotten out of the math that I did. So, I hope that helps.

Oh yeah, if you wanna put you books online, they have to be in some sort of format when I looked it up, so, yeah may want to look into that.

I'd offer advice on how to write good stories, but It really depends on what you've already had as an idea, plus what you've already started. The best way to learn is to try things by yourself, and then come get someone who can help you when you're stuck or ready to learn more complicated things. Spend some time on your own just going first though!

I encourage you as there really needs to be better stories out there.

I'm kindof sick of how romance makes up 60% of all books. . . And that number is actually factual in some stores. . .

Sword legion : I'm doomed. jk jk Thank you for the info! I'm going to save your post for reference for when I get started. I agree about the romance part. And a good portion of it isn't even romantic...just sleezy imo. I want to inspire. I'll share a short story with you that I've finished (roughly?). I might go ahead and post it to Vizzed.

Totts : I reall wish for world peace. I love every human with my heart and we are all the same being but have created a difference that makes anger.

I wish for a happy year ahead and more peace in the world, so much more peace.

My only wish right now is that climatology could be more stable, since all these changes during the cold seasons literally destroy my health. 

I would like to take again the exams to apply for national level chair umpire, and with it climb the first of many steps towards my future dreams and hopes.

And of course, I have some projects regarding Vizzed that will see the light in the upcoming months.

Maybe other things pop up during the year, but that's pretty much all I can say now, with 35 out of 365 days of 2015 already consumed.

I wish for more openness and less hiding.
