After several minutes of staring at a screen blankly, i have come up with a story. It has a plot, sure, but I've put in a delicious bit of abstractness and other stuff you'll probably never understand if you tried (puts on hipster glasses). All feedback is appreciated!

I felt an obligation to climb the steps of the Great Tower. Everyone else was doing it, so i figured why can't i? At 3,000 steps, though, it would be no easy task.

After a long walk through the streets, i finally reached it. The Great Tower. It was so massive that no mortal could even predict its height. Its imposing ______-designed structure dominated the capital city, striking out from the nearby glass towers and even the royal palace, both half its size. I walked right in.

In the titanic lobby, hundreds, perhaps even thousands, stood to take part in the climb. A rather ethnically diverse bunch; you had ______, ________, ______, and more. After noon, we set off and up.

The first 500 steps were a breeze, as with all climbs. The fields of ________ are a more challenging voyage, i thought. But trouble began to brew. The perspiration of the climbers began to form real, actual clouds. It had always been scientifically known that _________ sweat more than other root races, but i could tell there were not many here, and this was simply extreme!

It started to rain. The ________ are the best architects of this world, and it
rains in the stairwell? Oh well. It's just a light drizzle, and rain was piling up recently, so i had gotten used to it.

And for a while it was. Until 1,000 stairs. Then it transformed into a torrential downpour. Many climbers were not holding a railing, and game crashing down the staircase as water flooded the area. Even those secured lost their bearings due to the quick arrival of the rush. Many more were knocked down by falling debris and humans. Only a few managed to stay, and all but one decided to head down. That one was me.

I knew the others wouldn't make it all the way back down. The water would get too high.. That, and i felt a hearkening from the roof. Some said _______ were blessed by ____ herself and held supernatural powers. But i always brushed that off as propaganda, since the race is the one managing the empire. But this was no time to think, i needed to move up.

At 1,500 steps, the river that had effectively formed in the staircase was now halfway up it. I needed to stick to the ceiling to move - not easy to do with ____________. I got to a window and looked out. The rain had spread to the rest of the city and was working its magic. No way some sweat could cause all of this.

At 2,500 steps the water had covered 90% of the staircase, and i needed to keep my head up at all times to breathe. It was becoming near-impossible to cling on to the ceiling. Somehow, the corpses of those who drowned below managed to float upwards, against the push of the current. I got to another window. The city was flooded several hundred meters up. Those who floated above it were congregating in a massive circle, hoping for salvation. But that would not come, as the current of glass shards would - rather graphically - prove. I was horrified, but i needed to press one.

At last, i reached the top. Every part of me ached, but i knew i had to keep pressing on. The water had reached here, and i had to swim the last 100 steps furiously. As the roof overflowed with water, the flood on the ground had almost caught up. I looked up the sky and screamed. Not to the gods or anything like that. Just screamed a desperate cry. A faint hope that i could be saved was still present, though it would not be for long. Then, the flood got to the roof......

I awoke in sand. I felt like a peasant. Sand? For the master race? I was never particularly spoiled, but i figured no one deserved such treatment, let alone a _______! I got up and looked around. Here there was a member of all seven root races. Four male, and three female. Perhaps it  was not fair, but neither was the old world. I turned to th

Note: The above was translated from a language dubbed "Gen1". The translation was made possible from a Rosetta Stone-like object found in the Nubian Desert translating runes to an ancient form of Hebrew. Note that the original translation was broken and many runes could not be translated, so they were filled to the best of our ability (so please remember they are likely to be inaccurate). In particular, several words we deemed to be nouns simply could not  be translated due to unusual, likely possessive runes used for them. These words are marked by dashes. It appears the work was made in a hurry; evidence of a fossilized pathogen shows the author was possibly afflicted with some kind of virus.

The original document was recently discovered in north-east Ethiopia, near the oldest traces of human habitation. The sheet it was on was torn at the part where it abruptly cuts off. Carbon dating dates the object as being 200,000 years old, roughly around the time of Homo Sapiens arrival. What is most peculiar about this language is that no other document ever recorded uses it. That, as well as the fact as the fact that it bears many similarities to all of the languages we have compared it to.

It's certainly fascinating. I'll send it to the boys upstairs - they'll go crazy over it. If they give me the green light, I'm OK'ying another dig.

The dig is going swimmingly, but i must state that i have seen it coming again and again it will save only the strongest. It is my destiny to preserve those suitable for re population once this mess is over.

The above letter was discovered at the sight of the massacre. Sixteen of the finest minds in Britain dead and another missing. It appears to have Morris's signature, so we are under the auspice it was authored by him. We can't make out what the hell he's trying to convey, but looking at these scrolls the team discovered, i think I'd go crazy too. We're incinerating the camp, as per your orders. The documents have been sent to London via Addis Ababa and should arrive shortly. We'll head back ASAP.
