Hello everyone, it's your host Laian, coming at you, with a new walkthrough. How are you doing today? Good? Ok. So, this time, it's the walkthrough of a Gameboy game called «Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 3: Radical Rescue». It's a Metroidvania game for starters, not long but quite challenging at some points. You may notice that this walkthrough is short and «soft» compared to the last ones. September was not a good month for me. Some people know why. I lost my grandpa and I had to stop doing some stuff such as that walkthrough due to the lack of motivation. But I moved on and don't worry, I'll make something more interesting next month. Hopefully nothing bad will happen. So, let's jump into this adventure without wasting any more time, shall we?

CHAPTER 1: LEONARDO

So, our adventure begins not so far from the entrance of the mines, with our buddy Michaelangelo. You can either jump from tree to tree like a ninja or use the casual way. Either way, you'll kill your first enemies with your nunchaku. You can also do the helicopter and land on the platforms if you press the jump button twice, which will come in handy, trust me. Once you are in the mines, this is where the map will become useful (press "select" button to open the map). If only it was an easy map to read. Yeah, compared to any other Metroidvania game you would play, the gimmick of this game is quite simple (you need to find a boss, kick its booty, grab the key and go save one of your friends... typical, isn't it?) but the map is a pain in the butt. That's why I recreated the map just for you, folks, with the useful infos (with a beautiful legend, all that made with my slave, errr I meant my good ally «Paint» ) you need to know, because I'm nice

You'll find at the far right of the room a pizza (1). That item cannot be stacked, you can only take up to one everytime. It fully recovers your health if you die, it's a second chance, since there's no save point in this game. It works with passwords only, that's really convenient. However, if you already have a pizza in your inventory, the next pizza you'll grab will fully heal you. Anyway, go down, then to the left. Go down, then west, leap over the spiked balls, open the door and go up twice. Go east and face the first boss of the game. This boss has 10 HP and three types of attacks. The first attack is the dash, the second one is the flail and the last one is the claw attack. The claw attack can be avoided if you step back. As for the flail, just duck since the weapon goes horizontally. The dash can be avoided if you leap over your opponent. Now, something to know about this opponent: you can only hit him once due to the invulnerability frame he will get after each damage you'll deal. Plus, there is a way to know if he will do his dash attack or the claw attack. If he steps back twice, he will do the dash attack. Otherwise, he will trick you, stop right in front of you and do the claw attack. That's all you have to know about this opponent. Hit him ten times and grab the key. Now, leave the room, go up, then west, then north and locate the locked door in this room. The game will ask you to use the key. Press the «up» arrow button to unlock the door and save Leonardo. Leonardo has an interesting skill. Besides his good old katana, you can do a tornado which can destroy crates and blocks if you duck then press «A» button. For example, the next room to your right (use the special skill of Michaelangelo to reach the door to the east after saving Leonardo) hides an health upgrade underneath a pile of crates (2). If you step on these crates, the sound will be different. The health upgrade increases your HP by 2. Now, look at your map. See that dot right beneath the boss room? Let's go there. Go back before the entrance to the boss room, go down then east. Use the special skill of Leonardo to break the rocks and pick up the key card. This will be useful later. There's more goodies to be found with that new skill. Go down, then right, the up and destroy the crates to the left. You'll reach a place where you'll find a pizza. Now, it's time to head to the second turtle to save so here we go.

CHAPTER 2: RAPHAEL

The bad news about the next step is the bit of backtracking you'll have to do in order to reach the door that requires the key card you just found. From where we stopped at the end of the first part, you have to go east, then north, then go east and keep going south (use the key card to open the locked door) until you find a way up. There's a pizza nearby, just in case you need it. At the end of the line, there's the boss room. That boss has 12 HP and is a bit more challenging than the first one. Four types of attacks: the uppercut, the regular pickaxe attack, the small and the big air jump with the earthquake as a bonus. The only technique I have for this boss is the use of MichaelAngelo. His special skill, the helicopter, will really come in handy during this fight, especially after the boss does the big air jump attack. This earthquake is deadly if you don't jump with a good timing. He will always hit you with his uppercut afterwards so try not to be stuck on the ground, use the special skill to leap over your opponent, sneak behind him and strike back. This boss will always land right before you, no matter how high and long the jump will be. That was the big jump, now the small jump. No earthquake this time but you might have to sneak underneath him while he's in the air and kick his butt. The last two attacks are close ranged attacks so, if you keep you distances, you shouldn't be hit by these the uppercut and the pickaxe attack. Same old song, twelve hits will get rid of this boss and you'll get the key. Now, go south, climb down the ladder, avoid the flame throwings and use the special skill of Michaelangelo to cross the pools of spiked balls. Go up, then left and save Raphael. Raphael has an interesting skill: he can turn into a moving shell and cross the pools of spiked balls easily if you crouch then press the jump button. He also can go through small passageways, which clearly means new paths to explore and more backtracking, yeah.

CHAPTER 3: DONATELLO

Time to save the last of the turtles. But first, go east then south, go through the small passageway and grab the key card in the next room (3). Go north now, then blast the crates halfway in the next room to take the health upgrade and carry on. Go south and prepare to face the third boss of the game. That boss might give you some troubles. He has 14 HP and three types of attacks. You can see a gun in his hand. Trust me, you should avoid that shot at all times. If you remember the earthquake attack of the last boss, well here is the twin brother. If you get hit by the shot, you'll be stunned and mister the boss will get a chance to hurt you. Also, he will dash at some points so leap over him and strike back as soon as possible. He has one last attack: the horn attack. Usually, he does that after a jump but he can do that when he's on the floor as well. I don't suggest any turtle during this fight, it's up to you. Just keep your distances, move constantly to avoid the shot and hit him with your best shot until you defeat him. Grab the key and go back to the last room Go to the left, then down, blast the crates to find a pizza and carry on. Go south and save Donatello in the cell at the far left of the room. It took me a while to figure out his special skill, trust me. In fact, Donatello can climb up specifics walls in order to reach places you couldn't go before. You just need to jump right in front of a wall and press the jump button once more to activate this skill. Go back to the last room, unlock the door with the key card, blast the rocks and grab the pizza. Guess what, folks? I think you're going to be mad at me but... we have a long backtracking to do.

CHAPTER 4: MASTER SPLINTER

Remember the room after the starting point? Go down then to the east. In this room, use the special skill of Donatello to go up and carry on. Go south, avoid the land mines, blast the blocks and grab the key card. Unfortunately, you are forced to dive into the pit and go back to the last room. Go up now, blast the blocks between the two flame throwings and use the special ability of Raphael to grab the health upgrade. Go west, leave the mines then go up and re-enter the mines. Use the special ability of Raphael to go down, blast the rocks with Leonardo (or use the special ability of Raphael after a jump) to go in the passageway and get the pizza. A bit further, DO NOT break the rocks (unless you missed the key card or something else), the way leads back to the room with the exit of the mines. Go up, use the key card to open the door and carry on. Make your way to the ladder, go up to get another pizza and go down. DO NOT climb down the other ladder, it's a trap with two land mines and a bat. Go west instead. Go down and break the rocks. Yeah, I know there's a way to the right, it leads to a room with a pizza. You'll have to destroy a few blocks then go west to get it. So why did I say «break the rocks»? Because it leads to an alternate room with something better: a health upgrade. Now, go east, then south, then east, go up, grab a pizza with Donatello and his special ability and keep going north. You'll reach the boss room after all these deadly traps.

This boss has two main attacks if we don't count when he jumps or try to attract you to him or the column of fire coming out of his shot. The first one is that shot. It's a small ball he throws at you before hitting the ground and turning into a column of fire. You can easily dodge it if you leap over the projectile. The other attack is the tail whip. Watch out of this attacks it deals two damages to you. Now, I found a way to kill him easily while fighting him. First, select Donatello then use the special ability on one of the walls. Your opponent may stop fighting and moving. Yeah, he's officially bugged out and I find it interesting to point that out, since it was cool and hilarious when I found out that glitch. Now, it might not work the first time but keep doing it and eventually the glitch will be on. Otherwise, kick his butt by switching to Donatello and Michaelangelo (Donatello since he can stick on the walls and that's handy when this enemy does the column of fire attack and Michealangelo in order to sneak behind him after his jump and strike back) and grab the key. Head to the south now. Climb down the ladder to the right after the pickaxe man to find a pizza in the next room, then go back up and climb down the other ladder. That jump is tricky to do. Select Michaelangelo, step right on the edge of the platform, jump and immediately press the jump button once again to use the special ability and reach the other platform. All that without touching the spiked balls above your head. Now, go up and save Master Splinter. Use Donatello's special ability to go up, then carry on until you find the key card (4). Now, it's time to take care of Shredder and save April. To the north, we go!

CHAPTER 5: APRIL O'NEIL

This is the last part of the game and, trust me, it's a long and dangerous way to that meeting with Shredder. Go up, grab the pizza outside on the first tree and carry on. You'll find more pizzas if you need some on your way to the final boss room. But before facing Shredder, how about a boss rush? Like in a Megaman game. Yeah, let's face all the previous bosses once more time. You'll face the cat with the flail and the convict outfit, then the mole with the pickaxe, then the dinosaur with his gun and finally the cobra and his shots. Refer to the last chapters if you forgot how to beat these guys. You'll meet Shredder. For this fight, I suggest you to use Michaelangelo. Shredder has four attacks. The first attack is the regular kick. He always does that when you're close to him so keep your distances. The second attack is the knee attack. Just leap over him and strike back. The third attack is a ball of energy coming at you before hitting the ground and creating a wave of energy. Same thing, leap over the wave of energy and strike back. The last attack is quite hard to avoid actually. You need to move constantly since he goes in the air and teleports himself multiple times before attacking with his kick like an eagle. Keep your distances. That's the first round. There's another round and, like Count Dracula from any Castlevania game, the second round is a bit harder. I really hope you have a pizza just in case something goes wrong. Besides the previous attacks I mentioned earlier, a new attack appears: it's the enhanced ball of energy. Shredder floats in the air, cast a ball of energy that hit the ground and creates a wave of energy higher and more dangerous than the first one. After that attack, he will try to kick your butt with his drop kick. Just leap over the wave of energy, go underneath Shredder and kick his butt. There's no third form, no worries. You get the key at the end of this intense fight and you can now save April in the next room and complete the game.

BONUS CHAPTER: ITEMS LIST

There are a few items. Ok, five items in this game. Not enough to make another part but, you know, I'm going to make that short bonus chapter anyway. As always, I added a short description for each item if you wonder what they do.

- SLICE OF PIZZA: Recovers 3 HP.

- PIZZA: If your health goes down to 0 and if you have a pizza in your inventory, you will be fully healed. You can only carry one at the time. However, you can still grab them to instantly recover your hit points.

- KEY: Opens a cell door, in which you'll find one of your friends kidnapped by Shredder.

- HEALTH UPGRADE: Increases your HP by 2.

- KEY CARD: Opens a metallic door.

Well, that's all folks. I see you in the next walkthrough. Take care and bye

Laian : Considering the owner of the site liked your post, there's nothing I could say that would matter. I'll just say that your guide convinced me to put this game on my to-play list. Nice job on it.
