Ever used Steam to launch and play non-Steam games? That's a feature of Steam that too few know about. Some have taken advantage of this to play little pranks on unsuspecting mortals.

The trick involves renaming a game in a funny or crazy way. For example, it might be renamed to "your mom" or "Halo 3" (which has not yet been released on PC). When entering the game, the username followed by the words "is now playing" and the name of the game appears. So it might say "SuchandSuch is now playing your mom" or "SoandSo is now playing something else".

Has anyone else seen this happen? I personally have yet to try it, but I've heard of those who have tried it and gotten funny responses.

I was at my friends and I added google chrome and renamed it to Gay Porn, he didn't notice because it was Chrome and I think he left it open until people started to question his viewing choices

Yeah I've done it a bunch of times and never really thought much of it. It's just a joke me and my friends do for amusement. I have a bunch of applications on there and I think I renamed "Battlefield 2" to "Better Than COD". You can even rename normal Steam games actually. I renamed "Payday 2" to "Bag Throwing Simulator".
