I created this thread to serve as a means for members of Vizzed to challenge other users to different kinds of competitions. The overall goal is to exercise our abilities to bet on which challengers you think is going to win. This creates at least 2 rewards for gamblers. Those who compete and win, those who bet on the winner. This unique set of guide lines allows us to form our very own competitions, offer prizes and challenge gamers to games that we might not even think about competing in. My goal is to excite gamers to compete and challenge one another.

How This Works
Any member who wants to challenge other members of the community to specific games or a series of games should create a post. Competitions/Challenges are posted at the bottom of this post. in your post you should include;

1) Links to each game
2) Let us know if the challenge requires Netplay or Specific Items
3) Provide details about what the challenge is.
4) Informative rules on the challenge
5) Establish a time frame which the challenge is to be conducted
6) Bet requirement. (Applies to Wagers as well)

It is entirely up to the challenge maker to decide on how long the Sign-up period will last, how long the competition will last and specific rules relating to the challenge. My job is to ensure that each competition runs smoothly and the correct members earn their rewards,

How to Join
Submit a "Reply to Fireproof" post to me stating that you are entering any of the competitions listed in my first post (Found at the bottom of this post). Next, you need to send me the amount of the Viz it costs to join that competition. If the Viz bet is 500, you send a 1 time 500 Viz to me. This goes in what I will call the "Pot" otherwise the collective total of all challenger's "Join Fee". The join fee may be different from competition to competition. If you decide to withdraw before the end of the sign up period, you will get your join fee back and in full.

Challenges you can Create
Dedicated to determining which challenges members of the community may want to compete in.

1) Speed-Run Contest. Works similar to David's competition where you must complete the game in the fastest time possible. Winner is determined based on the start and end date which challengers compete and obtain the fastest submitted time on that game's page. We'll know who is taking part in the challenge because they'll have posted to join the challenge. No referee required.

2) High Score Competition. Works similar to David's competition where you must obtain the highest score possible in the given time. Winner is determined based on the start and end date which challengers compete and submit their high scores. We'll know who is taking part in the challenge because they have posted in this thread to join the challenge. No referee required.

3) Head to Head. This type of game requires 2 person Multiplayer, Netplay, A Referee and Broadcasting. In this competition, you'll go head to head with another member of the community, either by fighting each other, racing each other or by any 2 player means of competition where a clear winner and loser is determined. Examples: Street Fighter, NCAA Football, Pokemon (Stadium) and Racing. Can be tournament based.

4) Battle Royale. This type of game requires 4 person Multiplayer, Netplay, A Referee and Broadcasting. In this competition you can go team based or free for all style where you compete against each other where a clear winner and loser can be determined. Examples: Mario Party, Banjo-Tooie, Diddy Kong Racing, Star Fox, Shooters or anything else. Can be tournament based.

5) Hack Building. This type of competition allows members to edit the rom of the selected competition and present it as a new and hopefully better version of what the game is hacked from.

If you have an idea that would make for a fun competition, feel free to add a post with your suggestion and I'll try to incorporate it up here for more users to see. Feel free to explain this in detail.

Challenge Rules
These rules are designed so that all challenges are fair for both the challengers and all wagers. Depending on which rules are broken, challenges may need to be replayed, suspended or closed with wagers returned to the appropriate owners.

1) Challengers must reply to the original challenge post stating that they accept the challenge. This will be updated in my first post so that members can easily see who is apart of the competition.

2) It is up to the challenge creator to determine the start and end date of a high point or speed run competition. These competitions do not require a watcher or referee. Any submitted score or speed runs must be submitted before midnight of the last day.

3) It is up to the challenge creator and the challenger(s) to determine an appropriate time and date to conduct multiplayer challenges. This should be at least 1 day in advance notice so there's enough time to ensure the game operates smoothly for everyone.

4) Multiplayer competitions will have no more than 2 weeks to sign up and no more than 2 weeks from the last signed up player to have completed all the games. Speed Runs and High Score length will be determined by the challenge creator.

5) If you sign up and can not compete you will need to discuss the circumstances of the competition with your fellow competitors. You can postpone a match if majority agrees. If you are unable to play your game, you will automatically be forfeited. You will not receive a refund.

6) Multiplayer challenges require a Referee/Witness, Netplay and Broadcasting. A referee is to ensure the players abide by the rules. Netplay is needed to play games online against other players. Broadcasting is so we can watch! If there is no referee available, broadcasting can be used when you can get 1 witness to acknowledge a winner and loser.

7) Multiplayer challenges with many participants will become a tournament. Winners in tournaments will advance to play multiple rounds of the same game until all other players have been defeated. Tournament size changes number of rounds and wager payout.

8) All games played through this thread are to be played on a normal difficulty setting unless stated by the challenge creator that a game is to be played on a different setting.

9) Designated affiliates who want to compete in these competitions must not accept any wagers submitted by competitors.

10) Speed-Run Contests and High Score Competitions will begin immediately on the date set by the challenge creator. Multiplayer competitions will begin after 2 weeks from date creation. You can join Speed-Run and High Score in the first half of the competition but not the second half.

11) Challenge makers are allowed to compete, submit wagers or act as a referee of their challenge or competition but not all 3. Rules must apply fairly to all competitors.

Wager Rules
These rules are designed so that all wagers are fair and easy to keep track of so no user's Vizzed is lost during transfers.

1) All bets are to be made through me or any trusted affiliate designated on this thread. I intend to appoint members who express interest in helping run this thread. All bets are to be made through the same affiliate for each challenge, this is so all wagers can easily be tracked.

2) All wagers will be accepted during the sign up of every competition. In the second half, wagers will be declined and returned to members if necessary. This applies to both challengers and non-participating member wagers.

3) If a challenger has agreed to participate in a competition but has not submitted their wager, they can not participate in the competition and will be disqualified for not meeting the requirements. If this effects other members, the appropriate wagers will be returned.

4) When submitting a wager, please include a message pertaining to the correct challenges and challenger you are betting on.

5) For non-participating bets, multiple bets for multiple challengers greater than 2 is accepted but is not allowed to bet on all challengers. For example: 4 challengers are playing a game, you can only bet on 3 challengers. Betting on multiple challengers requires you to submit the wager requirement for each challenger you want.

6) Wagers between the challengers will go to the winner of the competition..

7) Wagers between the non-participating members will go to the members who chose the winner. The result from winning the wager will result in the total amount of wagered Vizzed divided by the number of wagers submitted for the winner. Everyone will always win an equal amount.

8) Challengers are not allowed to wage a non-participating bet. You can't participate and bet on someone you are competing against.

9) Tournament based wagers for participating challengers will be conducted differently than head to head wagers. Tournaments with 8 participants will reward the top 2. Tournaments with 16 participants will reward the top 3. Tournaments with 32 participants will reward the top 4. Wagers are final 2 hours before the first game of the tournament begins and can not be changed while the tournament is on-going.

10) In the event that a wager is not placed on a challenger and that challenger wins, non-participating members wagers will be returned to them.

Vizzed Bets/Tournaments
Vizzed bet amount should be kept in increments of 100 starting from 500 Viz to 10k Viz a person. When a challenge maker creates their post, they'll need to include what the bet amount is for their tournament. For example: I set 1k bet for my competition, everyone pays 1k Viz to enter. If 10 people enter the challenge, the total amount that can be won is 10k. This is set this way to keep players from betting too many Viz all at once while others bet too little. The different amounts of wagered Viz would be a terrifying headache to determine the payout when winning the competitions.

Tournaments are entirely unique to multiplayer competitions. Depending on the number of players and number of games that need to be played, the tournament grows in size. As the size of the tournament grows, so does the Vizzed payout for winning and the number of members who can win. The wager rate stays the same per person when the competition turns into a tournament.

When to Expect Your Viz
Whenever the competition comes to a close, all submitted entries for each competition will be checked to ensure there is a clear winner and no rules were broken (If necessary). After the Winner is declared, which should only take a day or 2, the Viz will be sent to the Winner. Wagers for non-challenger players will be sent out immediately after the Winner has received their Viz. Please keep in mind the totals may be different based on those who participate in each aspect of the tournament.

Help Wanted
Seeing as this could be a popular idea, I could use additional help in the form of referees as designated affiliates for these competitions. As a helper for this competition, you'll be asked to watch broadcasted multiplayer competitions to ensure the rules aren't broken. You will may also be asked to hold onto all the Viz that is wagered in these competitions. With this job, you'll need to keep track of who is betting on who and the total Viz sent to you. Your contribution can help make everything run smoothly for all competitions. Interested? Send me a Private Message so we can talk.

In this area you'll find specific information regarding the challenge, the contenders in each challenge, time the match is to be played and the wagers submitted for that challenge. Detailed information regarding the challenge specific rules as well as other details are submitted by challenge creator and is found in their post.

2) No Netplay needed
3) This is a speedrun contest to finish the boss blitz (The game does not have a speed run option)
4) Standard Thread Rules + Video Required
5) Ends August 19 2014. Sign ups last 2 weeks and 1 extra week of competition afterwards.

awesomeguy279 : Good question. Some speed runs and high scores can't be done in under 15 minutes due to the length of a game. I don't think the Vizzed channel allows us to upload more than 15 minutes at this time anyway.. I'm going to say that I will let this be up to each of the challenge makers to determine whether or not they want you to upload a Video or not.

Boss blitz for DKC should only take minutes to do so I will include that as a requirement.

I have a question as well, you said broadcasting has in use twitch to show everyone your playing wouldn't this cause many problems. First the Internet would be one big problem because not everyone has lightning fast services. Then you have to worry about the netplay, broadcasting program, and the twitch website that one of them would break due to intense work for the computer (not everyone has the best computers). Another thing to note is how would this be fair if the challenger thinks he has fast Internet but the competitor has faster Internet and has beaten him to something like 0-100. Lastly how will the use of broadcasting be done, will we be able to watch two person in the same account or is it separate because theres no info about who will be broadcasting.

its just something you might run into when you are doing the challenge/bets.
I have a question as well, you said broadcasting has in use twitch to show everyone your playing wouldn't this cause many problems. mastergame : First, that's true, not everyone has lightning fast internet but you can reduce the amount of strain on your Twitch Software. 2 things you can do to relax that strain... 1) Reduce the upload rate below 250kb or less. 2) Reduce the frame rate to 20 frames or less.

Secondly, I am unfamiliar with Netplay and it's strain on the internet. I do know that several competitions have included Twitch and Netplay since both of their releases and they have been successful to some extents. I was not actively watching these tournaments but they were played through and to the best of my knowledge, without much complaint. I do know that the distance of the player with the Netplay session will cause some lag for the other players. Whoever is most centered in a location should host the Netplay session, but this will be up to the competitors to figure out.

Third, you don't actually need to visit Twitch or Twitch page here on Vizzed. You have the ability to chat with users in the Netplay lobby if you need to speak to the other competitors so there's no need to open those 2 pages that would kill your internet and game. Every computer and internet operates at different speeds, which will cause some lag.

Lastly, the use of broadcasting is left up to the challengers to decide among themselves. The reason I state it this way is because there are members of this community who probably aren't allowed by their parents to download Open Broadcasting Software. I also won't be on all the time to decide who should broadcast, plus some gamers might not even have it. I encourage all gamers to broad cast their games because it would give us more points of view but I know this won't always happen. If you can think of a way to get a "Spectator" on 2 player games without the use of Broadcasters, I can incorporate that into the rules as a possible solution.

Fireproof : Alright... So... I have to record my speed-run, and then message you once it is uploaded, correct? If that be the case, I will do it after the Tour de Vizzed concludes tonight.

thing1 : Yes. The game doesn't actually have a speed-run option (Which is probably a mistake) but you can still use Mednafen and record it anyway then upload it to the site. It's not required to message me you submit it because I will be checking when the competition concludes to determine a winner. Also, you can submit multiple trials but only your best time will count!

You've been added to the competition. Total 20,500 Viz.

I, James T., accepts the challenge.
My Viz will maybe be sent in 1 minute, and will be sent in maximum 5 minutes.
So the total is 21K now. :3

Hi all, and no I'm not a challenger, I'm here to show my challenge and see who will accept it

1) Wizardry Gaiden 1: The Suffering of the Queen. (Text-based RPG, The link: https://www.vizzed.com/playonlinegames/game.php?id=73437)
2) Netplay is not needed. (actually we may need that, maybe)
3) End the Queen's suffering (AKA: Beat the game)
4) Standard Thread Rules + No FAQ please +You may use the game's guide, which will be given to every challenger + The ability to restart the emulator in case something bad happened (the consequences are unbearable) + Would like to say that video is required but it the length will be at hours...not to mention the grinding part.
5) Betting session ends after 2 weeks (last day at 8/16). Challenge can begin after that and it will last 20 days (we can post-pone the challenge's launch if such things happened)
6) 2000 Viz wagers, Max Challengers: 5

Bonus:
Before attempting any of these, I gatta warn you that this is only for those who played these kind of games before, for they know how to beat the game AND can do it with less efforts, but you're free to do so anyway, and remember that these are only extra tasks so you can forfeit them any time.

1- Reduced party size: Simply beat the game with less members in the party, keep in mind that you this will drastically make the game harder (6: X 1.0, 5: X 1.2, 4: X 1.6, 3: X 2.2, 2: X 3.0, 1: Death wish?.....X 5.0)

2- No Magic: Beat the game without the use of magic, harder than what you think (X 1.75)

3- No Consumable items: You cannot use Items or invoke them (except the quest items which I'll mention it in another post or file), if you can beat the game, then this is a piece of cake (X 1.1)

4- No Advanced class: There's no reason to get an advanced class, it's like a melee/spell-caster and a few exclusive, powerful equipment that are available waaaay later in the game, also requires more grinding. However there is one class that will help you tremendously finish this challenge faster.

5- No "Wish" spell: This spell allows to bypass BOSSES, even the last one, but it still has a huge drawback so one should not use it unless he's sure that the next turn is his defeat. (X 1.2)

6- 1st place: The first one to finish this game and PM me with a proof gets a bonus, if there is any other challenger (X 1.25)

7- Item Collecter: If there are are 2 or more challengers, then the one who beats the game and has the most types of items wins, if two has the same number, they both win (X 1.4)

8- Fair and Square: Beat the game without resetting the emulator (X 2.5)

In the next post, I tell you how I'll be calculating the reward....if there are some challengers.

Waot we are allowed to create your own challenge for others to accept here?
Also, thanks for sending the Viz back, I don't know why you did that though, but I did forget about the thread :s
So yeah.. If I want to participate do I need to send the Viz again?
And if I do create my own challenge in here, is it required to make a join fee? ~James

TheJmsGamer : Yes, if you have a competition idea, you can submit your competition here and I will update my first post to include your competition. I can serve as a "referee" to help manage the competition so that rules are followed and the proper Viz is sent to the proper winners. If you come up with a really good competition and I have extra Viz, I might offer bonus Viz for winners.

I didn't send the 500 back. I did send you a reply on the message stating that the thread has been moved and stickied so you'll be able to find it. You won't need to send anymore Viz, your Viz is in the pot. You do not have to make a join fee but keep in mind that competitors would probably desire some sort of reward for competing.

thing1 :

There has been a change to the rules regarding the DK Boss Blitz competition.

Change 1: Videos are no longer required, instead you will need to play the game using the High Score Mode and submit your speed run based on your fastest time.

Change 2: I have added another bonus to the competition. Any competitor who is signed up in my competition and beats my high score will automatically win 3k Viz. This has to be done through the High Score Mode. Anyone who joins before sign up ends is eligible for this prize. Sign up ends August 12th.

Lol! My challenge ended and nobody signed up!, guess I should have put a more popular game.

Fireproof :

Alright, the sign up session is over and there's no volunteer, so you can remove my challenge.
