First of all, I would like to say this was a great game all around. The plot was great, and the graphics were fantastic. I thought i'd start out this review with the FF scandle that occured. You hopefully know that final fantasy is first released in Japan, seeing as it is made there, and then released in the USA, in english of course. So, when Japan got FF 1 we got FF 1, when japan got FF 2, what did we get? Nothing. In fact, Japan for 5 more FF before we got another one. And, as it turned out, Nintendo took (Japan's) FF 4 and released it in the US. BUT they renamed it, FF 2. (then they did the same thing with FF 6 and renamed it 3) This went on unnoticed for about 10 years. Then Japan released FF 7 and when the US made it the just kept it named FF 7. Fan's of the game protested at the factory, and ended up having to be chased away by police and the SWAT. So, now, for the NDS, they released FF 3 and now FF 4. And just in case your wondering, no, it is not the 2d games you know for the SNES, NES, and GBA. As a matter of fact, they (nintendo) gave us a full, 3d game. And it includes all you could want from a FF game and more. Magic has different animations for every rank you level it up, and the animatons are amazingly (3d) constructed. Fighting melee now does not just say 6 hit, but shows the person hitting every blow. Now heres my review.
You start the game as a dark knight named Cecile. (OoOHh scary, look out for Ceeecile) As Cecile, you are in the kings royal service, and your service platoon is called, the red wings. But soon you figure out the king is evil, and leave his service to start your own party. the other 3 members just seem to come out from nowhere and start fighting. Almost no history of the characters is given. But they are great fighters all the same. And SquareEnix who created this game, also created Fire Emblem, which is another great game I might review.
Gameplay8/10 Amazing. The plot is well explained, you see every movement given. The only thing I didn't like was walking long distances. You seem to run into an enemy every 20 steps.(I wonder if the game is made this way?) And the last boss gives 15000 EXP and 90000 GIL. Hold on just a moment, EXP and GIL?? What am i sopposed to do with it after the game is cmpleted, seeing as you have to delete your game and start over. But dungeons where challanging and fun.
Graphics10/10 Also VERY amazing. You could see every movement given, (as explained before) and see all the character/enemy movements. The scenery was anazing as well for every different area you explore. (as I forgot to mention there and 2 not 1 worlds to explore) Each dungeon you explore has a different style, making this game even more amazing. Battle backrounds are great as well.
Fun Factor9/10 Again, this game is very fun, and I highly recommend getting it if you have a DS and are looking for a good game to pass time.
Boss Fight rating15/10 Rock awesome. They all look great, with 3d movement, great detail in how they are drawn. Most of them where hard to kill, and provided me with stradegetic fights, and not the RPG don't have to think feeling.
Ending Rating(rating withheld) I won't give anything away, but it was a GREAT ending. More like a 5 minute long movie, with a pretty good descr
iption of..(again withheld).
All in all, this game was worth the money. (gamestop: $19.99) Great time passer, but it did have a stradegy like feeling and not RPG, still, it was worth the money and I recommend getting it for your NDS collection.
