Do you believe Xbox LIVE should be free? Considering Xbox LIVE is premium, I have decided to purchase a PlayStation Four, considering playing online is free of purchase. Don't you believe the developers of the video gaming system of any type of Xbox make enough American currency? Why would they need any more? Xbox is selfish and that is something I despise about them. Also, many are switching to PlayStation Four because Xbox LIVE is premium. I still am unable to believe my friends believe the Xbox is better than the PlayStation. What do you guys believe? Should Xbox LIVE be free of purchase from now on into the future? I would enjoy hearing some opinions.

DenzGamer135 : yeah..Xbox Live should be free. Why should we pay to play online....it seems they just want our money. And i pretty sure..they make enough money with the other stuff they sell. (also...thats why playstation is better than Xbox)

Did something change? Last I heard you had to buy playstation plus services if you wanted to play PS4 online.

It was cancelled because everybody was "threatening" PlayStation that they would have all switched to Xbox. Well, anyways, now PlayStation Four is now free of purchase to play online!

Yes it should be free but it really don't matter to me since I don't like playing games with other people for the simple fact that I know i suck at the games I don't need to get my but kicked by someone else to let me know

I personally think it should be free because as tornado said, they can make more than enough profit  from its other products without this hurting them too much. I just don't see the point in paying to play online, if it were me I wouldn't really care because I don't play with other people, but even still, I think it would be best if it were free. I am glad it is free for the PS4 which is all the reason why I think it is better than the Xbox 1, so yeah I have to agree with you and everyone else on this. It really should be free, Glad you brought up the topic though.

Yes, is should be free. They're taking our money away. We shouldn't be paying to play online.

I don't see any harm of it costing money. Even PSN for the PS4 costs money now (still not that much) but Xbox Live is much better. With Xbox live you get netflix free! Netflix in europe is £6 a month meaning £72 a year which is more than Xbox Live. On the Xbox One you get better services, Netflix and Premium Skype (with out actual phone calls). So it is a pretty good deal if you think about it.

Yes, I think that it is bad to have the people who can't afforded it to not get full benefit of a game they saved all their money to get.

You can watch Netflix on both the PSN and on a Wii for free without any kind of subscription. The Xbox is the only console that requires you to pay a subscription in order to access your Netflix account on it.

That said, I'm not sure if Xbox Live should be free or not. I'd like for it to be free, since I don't care enough to pay for gold membership and there are some games I'd like to play online. But if it caused Microsoft to decrease the quality of Xbox Live, then I guess I'd prefer they kept it subscription based. I prefer playing games online on Steam, though, so it's harder for me to care.

If that is the case, why does it say specifically on Sony's website that pretty much all online multiplayer gaming requires a PlaysStation Plus account, or the primary user of the console must be a PlayStation Plus subscriber to allow other users on the system to play specific games online? There are only a few free-to-play game exceptions to needing the PlayStation Plus, but Microsoft does that too. Show me where Sony claims they dropped the fee for online gaming, and explain why they their website says you still need the paying subscription.

Also, I just texted 3 friends who have PS4. They tell me they still have to pay.

My apologies if I had been incorrect, but I had just shared what my friend had mentioned to myself. Also, I plan to receive a PlayStation Four in approximately twenty-six days for my birthday on the date of January 29^th, 2013.

As for me, I don't think it should be free. Reason being you get what you pay for. I owned a PS3 and still own my 360. Huge difference in online playing quality. I could not stand playing online on the PS3. It cut out way more often, lagged a lot more, and glitched far more often than my 360 ever did. I thought it was just mine. But I noticed the same thing on any of my friend's PS3 consoles when I played online at their place. You don't have money going into it, you don't have as much to give it good quality gameplay. Simple as that. Why do you think Sony decided to jump on the bandwagon of making you pay to play online? Their online play sucked .If Xbox decided to make online play free, it would suck as much as PS3 did as far as online gaming. You get what you pay for. 

I have not played a PS4 yet, but a few friends said the price is much worth the improvement. 

rcarter2 :  thanks for the summons, I've asked a few people about ps4 online  and I always get vague answers.   And you make a really good point about the quality of service when paying rather than it being free.  Because Xbox charges they are able to invest millions into the online service they provide.

Final verdict I gotta see it for myself b4 I'll believe PS4 online play doesn't require payment, and furthermore it would probably be a good thing for ps4 owners cuz as stated the quality of the service would probably go up.  

Xbox Live should definitely be free. Microsoft online play/download is what makes it more fun. Without Xbox Live, you can't even download demos or expansion packs. If it were Nintendo, I wouldn't really care if it was free or not, but for Microsoft? They're flippin' rich!

It should be free. It's one, if not the only one, of the consoles that charges for online play. The Wii online play is free and decent.
