I know it is weird reviewing my own hack I made but I have a lot to say about it. It is my very first hack and I worked very hard even though some of the changes that occurred were not exactly the bigger changes you usually see in hacks. So lets get started!

So this is a beta version of this hack even though you can play all the way through like you are playing the original Ruby version. Some changes are different starters, your rival has a different starter, gym leaders have different teams, Wally's Pokemon he starts off with is an Aron, there are elemental routes where you can only catch a certain elemental Pokemon, and there is a special area where you can catch gen 1-3's starter Pokemon.(Though some are harder to run into than others). So even though they are all minor changes there are still a good number of changes regardless and some of the changes do boost difficulty throughout the game.

Graphics: 8
For the GBA console graphics were never the absolute best in the world but Ruby's graphics was always a little step up from some other titles on the console so this game deserves an 8 because of the fact that it kept Ruby's graphics and Ruby's graphics were not the best on the system but good enough to be remembered.

Sound: 8
Again GBA did have some memorable sound tracks and for Pokemon Ruby's sound tracks were always for the most part enjoyable to listen to. It is a shame the creator did not know how to put there own sound tracks into the game but being new to making hacks I will let that slide.

Addictiveness: 9
Though there are only minor changes the addictiveness does really go up more than the original Ruby version. The creator made elemental routes which makes it easier to make a balanced team if you are a player who likes balanced teams, the creator was able to change the difficulty enough where you as a player do not need to constantly level up your team but just enough so the difficulty and excitement does gradually increase throughout the game, and also not every game supports the player to be able to catch all the starters but in this game there is a special area where you could and it is very early in the game! So for addictiveness it may not be a solid 10 due to there being more that the creator could have done but there was enough new things added to where for me it reached the 9 mark perfectly.

Story: 8
So this hack does not have a completely new map, adventure, and all those other add ons that some hacks do offer but the story is Pokemon Ruby with new challenges added (Gym leader's change in team) that make this hack unique and deserves an 8 in this category.

Depth: 9
Depth in Pokemon games are usually the same unless the hack offers new events and challenges which some hacks just change one or two concepts. However, this hack does offer harder challenges, a unique twist due to change of starters both for the player and the rival, and this hack offers harder gyms which in my opinion boosts the depth of the hack. So this category deserves a 9.

Difficulty: 8
We all know those hacks where difficulty is so difficult you need to spend hours training, and only a certain type of player enjoys that type of challenge. Well this hack is different! The difficulty gradually increases and if you are not careful you may need to train your team up another 2-5 levels just to keep up but nothing like 15-20 levels at a time. Gyms are a lot harder but not to the point where you need to train up so many levels just to stand a chance. Also the change of starters do add a larger difficulty due to the change in battle style you need to come up with. Also this game does make it much easier to make a balanced team of 6 unlike other hacks so that decreases the difficulty. But, for difficulty this hack deserves an 8. It is still a beta but currently this hack does have harder elements to it than the originals and other hacks but it is not hard enough where it gets in the way of the overall experience and enjoyment.

Didn’t you say you were the creator of this hack? You talked about yourself in the third person here and there “The Creator made elemental routes…” etc. It is… Strange…

Writing a review about your own hack. Bold move. Personally, I’m not all for it. The only thing I read here are things I can expect to find in the hack. Without reading about what the writer thought about these things. This plays a huge part in convincing the readers whether or not to try the hack out. But, quite frankly, I don’t think your review would’ve been any more credible if you did that. I can’t take a person casting praise about their own creations seriously. The fact that you scored your own game a perfect 10 overall doesn’t help. Especially since you bothered to score the original ratings with lower numbers.

You should just wait for some people to review your game. They will tell you and us what they like and/or dislike about the hack. That way, the readers can weigh out the opinions of these writers with each other, and determine whether or not they’ll try this game out. You can use their reviews to learn on how you could improve your next ROMhack. It’s really no use reviewing your own game.

You really shouldn't be reviewing your own hack. It is not fair and there is no way you can give an un-biased opinion.

Local Mods : Should this be trashed or is it allowed to stay?

Well it was more of a "What to expect" type of review and besides this game I made did not have a review. Sure it was not fair of me doing it but it still counts as a review right? Since I have played through it.

Deadend136 : Yeah, but that doesn't make it a review. Like tgags said, it's unfair. Of course, you'd give your own hack a perfect 10, you're the one who made it and invested time in making it. But perhaps when other people play it, they have points of criticism here and there. Literally the only thing you did now is rate your own game with a 10.

Seeing as how you changed it from giving your own hack a 10, I won't move it. Honestly, I wouldn't move it anyway because though it is extremely bias to review your own work, it is still a review. I just wouldn't allow it to be the featured review on the game's page.

rcarter2 : Thank you very much and not a problem. I just felt that because it was receiving so much attention in such a short time period that a review should be on the page. Though I do realize that it was an action that did not make me look very good that it still was appropriate. I will not make this the featured review and I was not planning to. Once another review comes out I will ask that this review becomes trashed.

(Also I am willing to give back the amount of Viz earned by this review just no idea how to)

Deadend136 : I got to agree with Tgags here, I don't think it's really fair for someone to review their own hacks because you're giving more of a bias rating, and reviews are mostly based on other people's opinion of the game, just to let you know.

Well, you couldn't make it the featured review. Only the staff can assign reviews as featured But I think that people really need to just get off of this whole "you reviewed your own hack" thing. i won't trash this. No need for it to be trashed.
