I decided to start doing reviews of some of the best TV show episodes out there. This one is Gravity Falls, the finale for the first season. I plan on doing at least one episode for each major show and at least one episode for each season of that show.
This episode begins with Dipper dreaming of how Gideon took over the mystery Shack and it is revealed that Dipper, Mabel, and Stan are now living with Soos and his Grandmother. While watching TV, the group learns that Gideon announces that he will unveil his plans for the Mystery Shack at a party.
At the party, Gideon unveils that he will convert the Mystery Shack into an Amusement park. They rush the stage and attempt to get Gideon arrested for stealing the deed to the Shack, but because everybody loves Gideon, they end up being kicked off the property.
Back at Soos’s Grandmother’s house, Stan is talking to Dipper and mabel’s parents where he realizes that he can’t take care of them anymore and decided to send them home.
Meanwhile, at the Mystery Shack, Gideon finally states the true reason he wanted the Mystery Shack, because he knows that there is a journal hidden somewhere on the property and that he needs to find it in order to begin his evil tasks of taking over the town. (Or something similar.)
Dipper and Mabel then decide that they need to be the ones who take back the Mystery Shack, and they decide that in order to do that, they will need help from an unstoppable gnome army. Therefore, they enlist all the gnomes from episode one to stop Gideon and they promise Steve (Head Gnome) that they will get a wife. (They lead them to believe that Gideon is a girl.)
At the Mystery Shack, they corner Gideon with the gnomes to a point where he is trapped and is forced to give the deed back to them. However, Gideon actually was reaching for a whistle in his pocket, and was able to control the gnomes because they could not take the noise.
Gideon tells the Gnomes to Subdue them, and while this is happening, Dipper’s journal falls out of his pocket and Gideon steals it. Dipper and Mabel now decide that they were beat and have to go home.
Gideon was so excited, that he never realized that Dipper’s book had the number three on it. (He only thought there was two books.) He then thinks that Dipper kept the first book for himself, and goes after their bus (Which is somehow being driven by Soos) in a large robot that looks exactly like him.
At the top of a small mountain, the bus gets trapped, but the kids escape onto railroad tracks about 50 feet below the bus. (Don’t know how they got there.) However, Gideonbot grabs both of them and demands for the first journal. He then throws Dipper up to the top of the cliff, and walks down the tracks with Mabel in his hands. (I do not know why the wooden tracks, 500 feet in the air did not break.
This is where it gets interesting, Dipepr runs towards the cliff edge, and jumps towards the robot. He crashes through the eye, and lands on top of Gideon. The two fight inside of the robot, with Mabel clinging onto the metal fingers of the robot.
The robot loses its balance and plummets to the ground. The robot explodes , with Gideon inside (Survives) and Mabel uses her grappling hook to hook to the tracks, and the two of them slowly descend to the ground.
Gideon blames the twins for blowing up his statue in dynamite, and they are about to be arrested when Stan comes and says that Gideon is not what they think. He then goes on to show that Gideon has been watching everybody through tiny cameras and he ends up being arrested instead.
The Mystery Shack is theirs again, and Dipper shows Stan his journal which he got back from Gideon. Stan laughs at the journal saying it’s just fiction, and takes it to use as an attraction for the shack. However, it is revealed at the end, that Stan has a secret “Laboratory” beneath the Shack, and that he had journal number one all this time.
He now has all three journals and opens up some sort of futuristic portal thing, and that is where the episode, as well as season one, came to an end.
The was the best TV show episode that I have ever seen, and it is also the single greatest cliffhanger that I have ever seen in any form of media, which includes shows, movies, and books. It’s just awesome. If I was just to watch that one scene at the end in the “Laboratory” and not watch any other scene, I still would have said it was the best episode of the show.
Overall, I give this episode an extraordinary 987 out of 1000 and I suggest that all of you watch this episode.
