So, yesterday I learned about cartridge tilting, and if your not sure what cartridge tilting is, it's when you play a N64, NES or SNES game with the cartridge slightly tilted on the left, which slightly disconnects the game and makes it act up. For SNES games the screen usually gets all jumbled up before crashing, and N64 games last a bit longer, doing a lot of unpredictable things, usually resulting in the audio getting messed up and the graphics spazzing out. I've seen lots of videos of people cartridge tilting their N64 games. These are the games I saw: Super Mario 64, Ocarina of Time, Golden Eye, Super Smash Bros., Hey You! Pikachu!, Earthworm Jim, and some others. Since cartridge tilting normally results in data loss or damaging the game or console, I don't really want to risk doing it, so I was wondering if anyone else here has done it before. If so, what happens to these games if they get cartridge tilted?

Jet Force Gemini
Destruction Derby 64
Star Fox 64
Banjo-Kazooie
Banjo-Tooie
Donkey Kong 64
Blast Corps
Perfect Dark
Rocket: Robot on Wheels

I have Jet Force Gemini and Banjo Kazooie but I've never heard of cartridge tilting before. I wouldn't recommend trying it if it can mess up a game

Huh. When I tilt my cartridges on games that are stubborn because they're dirty, they start. Never heard of it glitching the game up. Although it would make sense, cutting off the console from parts of the game. I'll try this on some of the games when I hook up my 64.

Also, the only thing it could potentially "damage", is your game saves. Only ones on the game cartridge however. Anything in a pack would be fine.

I have Perfect Dark, Banjo-Kazooie, Donkey Kong 64, and Blast Corps. However, those are all games that are backed up with a battery. I'd rather not risk loosing my saves on those games.

I'm really not sure what the benefit would be to do something like that, especially since it's really not good for your games or consoles to do so. It's easier to just take a rom and alter/hack it, that way nothing is ruined.

Jordanv78 I actually enjoy watching games glitch up, and to see how they would react to cartridge tilting. But that's just me

NalaTheLion :

Bombchu link has done it in the past and it didn't hurt our
copy of Ocarina of Time. He did it to get past the rocks in Goron city, without a sword.

BUT

We only tried it once.

It wouldn't suprise me if it ended up hurting the cart in the end.
Granted I've never heard of any damage being taken form cart tilting in the past.

Dark knight of the blackened sun. I am Sword Legion, one of many. My mask is thick, and my armor is strong. All the more necessary in a world such as this. . .
