Legend of Zelda is way better it has a better plot and it is very open when it comes to exploring.

Final Fantasy is a good series but not nearly as good as the Legend of Zelda series.

Final Fantasy is better than The Legend of Zelda in my opinion, because final fantasy just has a better story line and purpose for playing. Also I like the graphics in Final Fantasy better than any Zelda game, and furthermore I in my opinion Zelda's plot just isn't as believable as Final Fantasy's.

I also think that The Legend of Zelda is a better game series overall. While Final Fantasy has seen a decline, TLoZ has seen the same consistency of absolutely phenomenal games. While Final Fantasy is just an RPG, TLoZ has live-action combat, magnificent dungeons with amazingly creative puzzles, and RPG elements, too. 

I think that the comparison is irrelevant and that they are both rather different games. On one hand you have LOZ which is an adventure RPG that requires you to get different items in order to progress through the dungeons and the over world. On the other hand you have Final Fantasy which is a JRPG that is based on dungeon crawling, leveling up and buying new equipment to power up your party members in order to progress through dungeons that require more skills and stats. On a personal note I prefer Final Fantasy simply because I am a lover of JRPG games and dungeon crawling. I also have only beat 1 LOZ game before (That being Phantom Hourglass) so I haven't been exposed to LOZ enough to establish a connection with the series, be that a good or bad connection.

I've finished many Zelda games and many Final Fantasy games and really I don't see how you can compare them.
I will say that Legend of Zelda games tend to be more consistent, for better or worse. They're sometimes too repetitive in terms of calling back old bosses or puzzles. Final Fantasy on the other hand is less consistent, but consistency is sacrificed for innovation and variety. There're a lot more different kinds of plot in Final Fantasy since each game is exclusive from the others. On the other hand, Zelda has a nice rich history and it sort of has a timeless quality about it.

You really can't ask someone which is better because there's just too much different about them and there are really just certain Zelda games that are incredibly great or bad and the same goes with Final Fantasy. There's not a lot of objectivity in this.

I don't know if these two can be compared. Not because one is better than the other, but because Final Fantasy is the premier RPG series, and Zelda is the premier action/adventure series. Both are phenomenal at what they do. Overall, I prefer Zelda because I prefer that style of game. But no doubt is Final Fantasy an amazing series as well.

When I was a ten year old?
I liked Zelda More.
When I was a Teen?
I liked Final Fantasy more due to there being more games to explore and stories to read. (No voice actors in my generation. We read every single poorly translated word.)
Today I favour other games that mimic the styles or combat systems.

Even though "Zelda" did not pioneer its 3D combat system in "Ocarina Of Time"? I love the games that borrow allot of stuff from that game and improve it or tweak it or whatever. (Folks Try "Darksiders" it is Awesome.)
So, while I may never buy another Zelda Game due to Needing a new system with each installment?
I dig the Other Games that can do a similar experience for a more practical price.

So, today I am very indifferent but you could say I like Zelda due to the Inspired Games.
That may change if Square can get its stuff together with its new Final Fantasy 15 game.
But
Only time will tell on that one.
So, Today? It is Zelda.

final fantasy because of the gameplay storyline and the soundtracks but I stopped at ffx-2 because how I feel ff games are not the same anymore and I do like to play Zelda games too

I'm gonna say that The Legend of Zelda is just a little bit better overall. While Final Fantasy games up to 12 are all great in their own ways, the Zelda series is consistently  great each time.
