Did anyone else pre-order an Ouya? Has anyone here gotten an Ouya shipped to them already?

For those not familiar with the Ouya, it's a console based on Android that has no physical game media. Games are 100% downloadable, and all games made for the Ouya must include some amount of free content.

I have never heard of it in till I seen this. Well I looked it up and I really don't know what to think. I haven't made up my mind about it and don't fully under stand what it does.

Personally I am not that interested in making mobile platform gaming, not mobile. Why would I pay for a console that can play the same games that my tablet or phone could?

Most mobile games only keep my interest for about 5 mins at a time.

I would rather just wait for steambox to come out.

Jordanv78 : It's not just playing Android games. They will have their own market of downloadable games not accessible for download on other Android devices, much in the same way that Samsung has its own app store with apps that are not available in the regular Android market.

Additionally, it will have its own controller peripheral that it's pre-designed to pair with.

Best of all (IMO) since it's running Android it will allow web browsing and other computing functions on non-smart TVs with a low cost and difficulty.

Paracelsus : I understand that, but they have given no indication that they will have games on-par with current consoles or Steam. That's basically what I'm getting at.

If they can get some big developer games on the system, then I might take it seriously but with the mobile processor that it's running, I don't see it really having any of the big market games.

So that goes back to my original statement that is, if I'm going to be playing mostly free games, or games that I can purchase for a few dollars on my phone, why would I purchase this console? The answer? I wont, and neither will most other people.

The only way that people will buy into this console, is if they have some top tier games available for it.

There's a list of Ouya games here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Ouya_software

2 of those are existing PC MMOs, and one is a console classic. I've seen promising things amongst the rest of the indie games. Go ahead and take a look at some of them if you want to see the caliber of games available.

I can't see the Ouya selling at all. There is nothing that would make it any better than what is already available on the console market and also Steam. Why would I get it? To play phone games? I have a history of playing a large list of phone games just to find one that is any good.

I will not be getting an Ouya. Personally, I prefer to have a physical copy of all of my games, that's why I rarely ever purchase downloadable games. I suppose that I feel like I'm being ripped off if I don't have the physical copy of my games, I like to have something to hold so that I can feel like I actually own it and can do with it as I wish.

sop281 : In that case you are going to find problems. Games are starting to move away from being physical. The reasons are for borrowing (or something along those lines) and it is also cheaper to not have to make thousands of boxes and discs. For PC at least, I like to have my games downloadable as if my computer breaks or I have to get rid of the games, I can always download it again. However, with a physical game, the disc or cartridge can get lost.

Tails the Fox : I wish it wasn't true, but you're right. Although, I would really hate to be hacked and lose my games (Especially in the case of where your account is unable to be recovered, however unlikely that may be). Otherwise, let's say an online network were to be shutdown at some point (In case you didn't know, I use PSN a lot), those games would be lost. I also dislike download and install times. I have a pretty poor Internet connection, and it doesn't help that I have to use it wirelessly.

System has zero games on it that I would find interesting, so no. I don't play cutesy little minigames that would fit on a phone so it's not worth my time.
