Hello! This is my review of Ms. Pac-Man Special Color Edition for the Game Boy Color (GBC). This is a 2-in-1 game containing 2 great Pac-Man games that lots of people know and love: Ms. Pac-Man and Super Pac-Man.
Graphics: 8
The graphics are pretty impressive. They don't look exactly like they used to, which I think is a good thing because if all game consoles had the same type of graphics, there wouldn't be much variety and different consoles wouldn't have more unique graphics than others. The graphics for Ms. Pac-Man are pretty much the same as the regular Game Boy version except they're in color. I really like how you can choose between having the entire maze fit on the screen or you can have the maze a lot bigger looking and it takes a while to scroll through the mazes when they're bigger. The graphics for the entire maze fitting on one screen aren't as good as the scrolling-through-the-bigger-maze graphics are, but I'm sure Nintendo couldn't really control that. This game was made in 1999 after all.
Sound: 8
The sound in this game is unique as well. The sound for Ms. Pac-Man sounds completely different than the original Game Boy version. However, there was no original Game Boy version for Super Pac-Man so you can only compare the GBC sound to the original arcade version. I personally like this version's sound a LOT better than the original.
Addictiveness: 7
The addictiveness of this game can vary depending on how obsessed with Pac-Man you are. This game has 2 different games in one, so if you're obsessed with Pac-Man or you're really good at it, you'll probably be playing this game for quite a while until eventually you might get bored of it. I like Pac-Man a lot, so I can play this game for at least half an hour and then move on to another game.
Story: BLANK
There really is no story to this game, just like all other Pac-Man games. It's like Pac-Man and Ms. Pac-Man are just eating pellets and ghosts for no reason.
Depth: 6
Like I said before, this game has two Pac-Man games in one. You might play this for a while, you might not. It's basically the same old mazes repeating over and over again. Ms. Pac-Man may have four different maze styles, but after you beat the fourth, the mazes still alternate, but they continue to repeat. However, this version and the regular Game Boy version of Ms. Pac-Man are like no other. Why? There are bonus mazes in this game! If you get far enough, you'll see two different mazes along the way that aren't included in any other version of Ms. Pac-Man. How awesome is that?
Difficulty: 7
You might be going, "What? 7? Why?" Well, the games get harder as you progress through them, and the controls don't exactly respond as quickly as other versions of these 2 games. Plus, the games might be difficult for you, or maybe they won't. It depends on your Pac-Man skills.
Overall: 8
This game may have a couple flaws like I just mentioned in the difficulty section, but forgetting those things, this game is almost perfect. If you like Pac-Man, you'll like this game. So try it if you haven't already and have fun!
