Currently the Powers that be in the Game World are concerned about not having their Games RESOLD.
If they get their way???
I think a new convention of ideas should take place.
Like.... DEMAND.
I got the idea after a conversation with "Crazy Lee" in a thread about "video games resold is killing the industry."
I mentioned "Marvel Ultimate Alliance" being worth only five bucks. She was willing to pay full price.
I thought to myself what could they have done to this game to make me pay full price and a list of ideas came up and I think a thread should be made for all the games that are out there that could use a little UPGRADE.
So here goes.
What would make me pay full price for "Marvel Ultimate Alliance."???
#1) Well the action is O.K. But not over the top overwhelming. If they had played with the camera a little more and made the in-game action more cinematic or rewarding I think it could have knocked my socks off. (Fun close-ups or cinematics with different camera angles for special moves and grapple/throw attacks would have been a great start.)
#2) The story could have been played by any character combination. Is wonderful. BUT
They did not create much to drive the characters. They all could have died and I would not have cared. The earth could have been taken over or destroyed. I cared more for Earth Worm Jim than any of the Marvel characters I grew up loving in this game.
#3) Unlock-able Gear.
I love the Unlock-able Characters, Abilities, and Art.
But none of them made too much a difference to the game or how it is played. You can go through the whole thing pounding one button and unlock nothing and win.
Again this game is great for folks who want to go to sleep or get the kids to sleep.
#4) Overall??
The game is a Beat-em-up on a graphical steroid regiment.
If they wanted all of the folks to pay full price?
Then they should have added all the other Marvel "side-scrolling Beat-em-ups."
Konami's Coin-op X-Men, Data East's Captain America and the Avengers,Capcoms Punisher (with Nick Fury), Give them an update and overhaul and include them in this title. (Call it H.D. edition.)
#5) The C.G. Animation is Great but not really needed. They could have done the job just as nicely with standard animation. Metal Gear Solid 1 decided to skip the C.G. and go with in game graphics engines to do its story telling. "Save the gigs and put them to use I always say." I got a kick seeing Marvel characters in 3.D., but I fell in love with them in the comics and the Animation I saw in previous years. (It ain't broke. Don't Fix it.)
#6) Having a team is great. Having a team of clones is not.
The only diversity you get with the characters is looks and speech patterns. They all can do the same job. Add some diversity. (I love "Gauntlet" and this game is a smooth clone of that idea. Why not go to the next level?)
#7) Different Looking Clones?
If they did not want to add any diversity to the characters usefulness then just install a character creator along with the cast of characters they already provide and customise your own team and cast and pick personalities from the given cast provided. Take a few notes from Soul Calibur 4 and 5.
#8,9,and 10) ???
I could mention other additions to be made like adding a Street Fighter style game mode or adding other classic Hits like Acclaim and Capcom's X-Men Children of the atom and Marvel Super Heroes (The Infinity Gauntlet Fighting game.).
Or at least attempt a mode that is similar. But I don't really need to go too far. If the improvements above could be made.
And
That's about it.
I would like to hear other game entries and a list of improvements that can be made to them to be worthy of a "Full Price" Marking on their cover.
Good Luck To All.
I'm done. Stick a fork in me.
Peace.
