I prefer ones with subtitles but both kinds have ups and downs. With subtitles, you have to read the words that they are saying. This can be annoying for those that hate reading or just don't like having words on the screen. If you watch the ones in English, you have really bad voice actors most of the time. I hate it when the characters voice doesn't match the character. A good side to having subtitles is that you can't tell if the actors are good or not because they are speaking in another language. A good side to having English ones is that you do not have to constantly read the bottom of the screen to understand what the people are saying. Generally, If I am going to watch anime, I automatically go for the subtitles.

Japanese with subtitles. I hate the English voices. The Japanese voices are always better. No offense to the English. I guess I am racist to my own language. xD

To be honest, I'm pretty open to both...

Although, I've gotten more used to having them in DUBBED in English rather than SUBBED in English.

Yet, I suppose not every anime was meant to be in English, so no harm done...many are worth watching either way.

Honestly, most English dubs are inferior to their Japanese original counterparts.

I honestly prefer dubbed because then you can actually focus on the art and beauty of the anime along with the storyline; which in my opinion is what they're truly about.

I prefer subtitles with original voice actors as well! Many people have become too lazy to read and watch! It's preposterous. Many times the English versions sound messed up, or not exactly right.

I prefer to watch anime in Japanese with subtitles
because I can't stand most English dub voice actors.
Not only that, but it helps me pick up more Japanese
vocabulary.

I prefer an English dub to a subtitled one. That's because I find easier to get what's going on and enjoy all the anime's details with a dub then a sub where I'm reading the subtitles instead of paying more attention to the show

I'd rather listen to the English dubbing. If I watch something with subtitles, with whatever it is, I find myself not paying attention to the action, and just reading the text.

Maybe in the future for Television, they should have a choice for the watcher to listen to the edited version with English or airing the original (with the Japanese language)with English subtitles.

For me not, I would like the English version.

I like both. When I'm watching an anime that I can't look away from I prefer to do it with subtitles. I've watched most of my anime with subtitles so it is more natural to me. There are times that I prefer to watch dubbed anime though. When I'm playing games on this site I usually play the game on one half of the screen and put an anime up on the other half. I have tried watching a subtitled anime while playing a game and it makes me take too much attention away from the game so now I only watch dubbed anime when I play.

It all depends on the anime for me, for Crayon Shin Chan subbed is much better (the English version is basically like Family Guy in Japan), others such as Cowboy Bebop the dub is best.

If a show is live action, then its best with subtitles since there is nothing worse than to hear words but not see a person's mouth moving in a dubbed version. However, in 2D animation, I would have to go with dubbed. However those voice actors better be decent(like a male character better not sound like a female) or its subtitle time.

I definitely prefer subtitles with anime but I won't die from having to watch one dubbed. I just always feel it loses a bit of its action and uniqueness. At times, some dubbed anime can sound real forced to me and the actors are just trying very hard to bring this character to life that it throws me off a bit. I first started watching anime on Toonami, so dubbed was the only thing I had but then I re-watched some of these animes in Japanese and I felt like I was watching something more exciting. I love hearing the original Japanese voice actors because they really
are able to give more excitement to what's going on in the story and
give the characters more life. Since I'm used to watching foreign movies from a young age, I really don't mind having to read subtitles so it's just something that you get used to, I suppose.

I prefer to watch subbed because there are no terrible voices. (like Jack from Yugioh 5Ds) Or there are not character name changes (like GX).
