Usually, the art of making creepypasta is respected, and the storytelling abilities are at least decent. It's usually even better when somebody provides a video of said occurrences happening, and it's best when there's a playable game about it. However, this game tries to be a creepypasta, but it's more like a ******pasta, at least to me. It totally fails to be scary or tell any kind of story at all.
The graphics and sound are not exactly changed at all. All of both are just the defaults that come programmed into the game, so it wouldn't take much skill to make this in Lunar Magic. Moving on...
When you start the game, you are greeted with a title that simply says MARIO. Not MARIO WORLD or SUPER MARIO or something like that, just MARIO. There isn't much of a problem with that, but then there's the game itself. So, the opening sequence is different, in the way that one word is changed. Not two words, or heaven forbid, an entire custom message, but just one word. Bowser is replaced by Mario, for some stupid reason. It's trying to be creepy/meaningful, but it fails spectacularly at both.
Then, you get to the main map, and the levels that are available include YOSHI'S(yeah, just YOSHI'S, not YOSHI'S HOUSE or something like that), YOSHI'S HOUSE, and never come back. Yes, that's actually the level name. YOSHI'S is even more pointless than the original YOSHI'S HOUSE level from the original game, YOSHI'S HOUSE is actually Yoshi's Island 2 with slight level design changes, and never come back is Yoshi's Island 1 without any enemies or reachable objects and no real purpose besides a few text boxes, which contain such gems as "-POINT OF ADVICE- I hate you" and "-POINT OF ADVICE-." This hack is just amazing so far.
After some more pointless levels, including the Yoshi's Island 4 level which removes the water and makes the platforms invisible(great idea, guys), you reach a castle, which has...gray lava on the ceiling? After you get past that oddity, there's a whole bunch of message boxes that say the same two messages over and over again. Then, you just fight Iggy, and when you defeat him, it gives a bunch of stuff about Iggy being "Victim #1" and graphically describes his death. Great game for kids, guys!
After that, there's Donut Plains 1, and...oh, you've got to be kidding me. It's in the middle of the water, and the hacker removed the rest of the map? Why would he do that? He wasn't even good enough to take out the ghosts that are supposed to float around the Ghost Houses, so why he would do this is beyond me. It's not anywhere near creepy or meaningful, I'll tell you that for sure.
Donut Plains 1 is basically an empty level. You get the death music, and there doesn't seem to be any exit. Also, there's two message blocks telling you about that there's no exit. But, there is! You're supposed to try to enter a pipe that's invisible and in the ground. How would you guess that? Then, you get a Mushroom, and run past a bunch of doors that you have to be small to enter, and you go through the wall, because the wall is a pipe for some strange reason. Then, you go through another invisible floor pipe, and...what just happened? The game just hung after I entered that pipe. The game literally CRASHES when you enter that pipe. Great programming, guys! He couldn't just program an inescapable area with another message box that says "THE END" and leave you there to die? That would be a lot creepier and a lot more meaningful than anything that actually happened in this hack.
So, the storyline was horrid, there were only 6.5 levels(I don't consider the Donut Plains 1 level to be a full level), and it was far too easy. Everything you want in a SMW hack!
Overall Rating - F- (This isn't worth anyone's time, and I feel cheated for having wasted mine on this horrid thing) Usually, the art of making creepypasta is respected, and the storytelling abilities are at least decent.
