Okay, so this is kind of an opinion based question. Which kind of Zelda
game do you like better?
A darker game like Twilight Princess or a lighter more happier game like
Skyrward Sword or Wind Waker?

I personally like the darker games better. I feel like it is the way a Zelda
game should be. If a dark force like Ganondorf is taking over Hyrule, should
the games have an erie or maybe even slightly on the unsettling side. Don't
get me wrong though, the lighter games like Wind Waker certainly did get
darker when Ganon took over but not in the same way as Twighlight Princess
did when Zant and Ganon had taken over. I personally think that the Legend
of Zelda series should be a darker game. Not exactly scary but more erie and
with darker colours.

So what are your opinions? How do you like the Zelda games? I personally hope
that the next game will be more dark.

I like whatever the Oracle games in the series are. I really loved those. It's how I got into Legend of Zelda and they are still among my favourite games that I've ever played.

NotJon : I forgot to mention the 8,16, and 32 bit games.  It's hard to determine if that's a darker or lighter game so we can make them into their own category. I too like the 8, 16, 32 bit games.

I would have to say I'm on the dark side on this one.
(cue imperial march)

But seriously, I think the darker style fits with Zelda better. It helps you feel more immersed in the world it created, and it makes you care about the characters more. Gannon is more menacing, the fear of the monsters is more intense, and the story to the darker games is just more appealing and deeper.

I like both kinds of game a lot but if I had to choose I'd probably choose a more dark approach. I like to see the world become brighter and more cheerful as you defeat dungeons, like in Ocarina of Time when you defeat the Fire Temple and Death Mountains clouds clear up, and when Lake Hyrule fills back up after the Water Temple is defeated. It gives me a sense of accomplishment that I'm actually bettering the world.

The series definitely hits high ground with its darker games than its lighter games to me as there are more feelings that arise within me whenever I play the more darker-themed games. With lighter games, the majority of the time I feel exuberant, ready to take on another adventure, while with the dark games, there are creepy and eerie moments that give me more than what I've got in order to complete the quest and the goal in mind, whether it be defeating Ganondorf or just saving the world.

While the lighter games are a joy, it's the dark games that truly strike a chord with me.

That is kind of hard, I like both, and I think that it is a good idea they switch tone in every game, for example MM was dark, WW was light. TP was dark, and Skyward Sword was light. I personally like the like the art style of the lighter games better, but I like the atmosphere of the darker games. The darker games also have the best sidekicks for example Midna is one of my favorite sidekicks ever, while Fii is my least favorite. And generally the darker games has more emotion which is a good thing, not saying the lighter ones don't but it just feels like there is a lot more at stake, and to me feels more epic. So overall I would go with the darker games.

I like the darker ones like "part 2 the Adventure of Link", "the N.64." one, the clips I have seen on "Majora's Mask", and the clips I have seen on "Twilight Princess". Though I must say that as long as its done in a way that does not exclude the youth from a game experience. These Games are kind of intended for the youth. If they produce one that is for the more mature crowd then I say they have to release one for the youth at the same time by default. For me its kind of a "Gamers Right of Passage" to complete their first "Zelda" title. I know its odd to have an opinion like that on such a matter but I do. Can't explain it.
Peace out.

Majoras mask and twilight princess were masterpieces. And although games and where the heck can I buy this wind waker are good games, I believe that the dark games have better story lines and are much more fun. In majoras mask you have the anguish of trying to save the dying world and witness all the people who have decided to stay besides the moon's imminent impact. You also have to help many people whose lives have been ruined. And twilight princess has your love interest not even remember you, the world covered by evil, and you must save the twilight princess. When Zelda workers decide to make a game dark, they cross the barrier and are able to make a truly great game. Although, Nintendo has come out and said that they will no longer make dark games and that they hit the sweet spot with skyward sword.

Ender44 (majoras mask is awesome)
(second of all, seriously why do no stores have wind waker?)

The darker ones, far and away. My favorite is Twilight Princess (Gamecube version. I'm not a fan of anything related to the wii). I know I answered in a previous post that I had a different favorite Zelda game, but I hadn't played Twilight Princess yet. This was the most I ever enjoyed myself with a game. The story grabs you and pulls you in. By the time I got to the end (it was a long game lol) I was surprised to find that I was actually attached to the characters, which kinda wierded me out, since I had never experienced that before. So I had mentioned it to some of my most trusted friends who I knew wouldn't have me locked up in a psych ward lol, Apparently it's normal enough. Anyway, the stories are better in the darker games, hands down, in my opinion.
