I still buy physical music because idk lol. It just feels nice to own it. It really isn't much money and I find that when I wait to buy one and save up money or whatever, I value the music more. Maybe it's just me.

Anyway, I'd say that I have around 300 or so CDs. How many do you physically own?

Hmm... I've got about 5 physical CDs... two of which are actually Japanese imports. I soon stopped buying CDs (and especially importing them) when I got a mp3 player and now I just deal with digital downloads. The way I see it, I could pay $20 for a CD that has like 10 songs and maybe I only like 3-4 on there... or I could buy the 3-4 songs for $3-$4. Seems like the choice is obvious when you look at it like that.

Crazy Li : I think of it like this, if there's only like 3 songs that I like, I just wouldn't want the album. What I have been doing is listening to most of the songs on YouTube and if I'm diggin' it then I'll buy it. Besides, you can get them mad cheap on Amazon and thrift stores and the like. That's actually where I got some of my favourite albums for like a dollar lol. But hey, with all this cloud stuff, it don't matter as much where you get it. I'll still buy the physical stuff but that's just me lol.

I personally only own about 5 CDs (my brother has quite a few).
I actually have more records than CDs, I like the sound quality better.

NotJon : I like to support the artists though... and sure a few dollars isn't as much support as whatever the whole album is... but that's all they deserve if that's all they made that I like. It's fair. The point is that the digital download sales still go to the artists. Thrift stores wouldn't since they only got money from the initial purchase, not yours. I guess Amazon would work, even online retailers tend to charge more than the digital downloads would cost me in my past experience. The last time I bought a CD on Amazon, it was like $11.99 plus S&H (which was like another $5-7).

I got lots and lots of cds lying around I never use them anymore though.
But the funny thing is I got even more lp records that I play atleast twice a week for an hour or so.
Nothing beats the sound of Vinyl

Crazy Li : I don't do it to support the artists lol but if I do, cool. They really don't make much money from album sales, it's more appearances and shows and stuff. Look at the upcoming rappers nowadays. I love ASAP Rocky and he is making money and his debut album hasn't even been released yet.

I usually buy them used so they are rarely that high unless unless they're out of print or something. Sure, the artists probably won't profit, but the guys selling them do and those guys tend to be less well off than signed artists.

NotJon : I would say between CDs that I bought and CDs that I burned I probably have a couple hundred. I don’t listen to them often though. (Needs to get my CD changer replaced). If I could I would listen to them and the radio a lot more often. It’s good for when you’re writing or studying. Somehow it makes the work go smoother or at least that’s how it seems for me.

NotJon : It's true that Mr. used resale guy probably doesn't have anywhere near the income as famous artist with a record label... I still do the things I do for the gesture, I guess. Even if it's insignificant, I support people I feel deserve it... even if they may not NEED it as much. It's the same reason I buy new video games by developers I trust or just have done a really good job with what they made and deserve it rather than buying them used. It's a symbolic thing for me... like giving them kudos for a job well done.

Crazy Li : I think what many artists appreciate the most is just that they touch at least one person out there with their art. As an artist myself (drawing/painting, not musical) I'm happy just to know that someone else finds pleasure in it.

bvd1022 : I hear that. My school semester has gone much more smoothly since I started listening to my iPod in class more lol.

NotJon : In my case I am trying to re-learn math on my own from beginning right up to algebra and geometry. Not going to be an easy task hasn’t been easy so far but I’m getting there. Just hope it won’t take me so long to refresh my mind with everything else.

I have around 70 or 80, but like 80% of that is video games on CD's. If you are talking music, then about 15, 20 tops. I don't really listen to music much unless it is on youtube or something.

I have a lot of CDs, in fact, I pretty much lost count on how many music CDs I own, but since I had an iPod, I don't really buy CDs anymore, mostly when I want a CD, it's mostly because of one song.
The last time I bought a CD was in 2010 and since then, I mostly buy music online and what not, the only way I'll buy CDs is if I can't be able to get them online and I can only buy the CD, but that's rare.
