Ah Pokémon, I remember being a child and playing Red/Blue version on my old Gameboy Color and watching the anime every Saturday morning on Kids WB. I always wondered though when I was taking my adventure through the region of Kanto, why is the game nothing like the show? Well now it is. Pokémon Ash Gray, sure it maybe an incomplete beta but this game had everything I wanted when I was a child. You play as Ash Ketchum, the star of the anime and you travel through Kanto in his shoes and experience the things that he did. You even get to be a better Pokémon trainer than he did catching and training more Pokémon than Ash ever had before.
I gave this game a solid 10, I really enjoyed playing it and I cannot wait until the finally copy is completed and up for download or added onto vizzed. This game gave me pure nostalgia as I played remembering each and every episode from the emotional and tear jerking Bye Bye Butterfree to the first movie. You get to take every chance that Ash had, from catching Aerodactyl and Primeape to choosing whether or not to evolve Pikachu into Raichu. You even become friends with Brock and Misty in the game, even though they don't follow you around like the show they show up when they are needed to the story for instance when you are in Celadon City Brock will show up to talk to Suzie the famous Pokémon Breeder who gives him her Vulpix.
The graphics haven't really changed much from fire red or leaf green so I gave those a 9. The story being as it is a childhood memory for me I gave a 10, I hope that more and more will be added soon. The Orange Islands and Johto Journey's should be a very fun adventure to play in this hack, Johto being one of my personal favorites. I gave the depth of the game an 8 because even though it is a long game, it is not completed yet. The sound I gave a 10 because of the nostalgia for me, a lot of the sounds came from the original games and I got lost in a sea of memories. Anyway addictiveness I had to give yet another 10 because when I first discovered this hack I stayed up from 7 pm to about 3 am playing so I was definitely addicted. It is not as hard as most other Pokémon titles so I gave it a 5 for difficulty.
To wrap things up, this hack has to be one of the greatest if not the greatest I have ever played. I highly recommend it for avid Pokémon fans and trainers. I think everyone will really appreciate the game and maybe you will even go through as many memories as I did playing the game. It caused me to look up all the episodes to watch again. I hope that you enjoy the game and have fun and amazing adventures in the hack of Pokémon Ash Gray.
