Rockstar Games is famous for creating great games, such as L.A. Noire, Max Payne, and the legendary Grand Theft Auto series, and this game is no exception. It is another masterpiece in gaming. The game is set in 1911, in the later years of the Wild West. You control John Marston, a former outlaw who had abandoned his gang after they left him for dead. However, the government kidnaps his son and wife and forces him to find and kill the remaining members of his gang in order to fully redeem himself. Though the premise is simple, the adventures you go on and the side journeys you embark on are amazing. Red Dead Redemption is great, and you'll enjoy the package all around.
The graphics are great, which is to be expected from Rockstar Games. Every inch of everything looks detailed and great. The framerate is amazing. Even now, it's one of the best-looking games of this gen. The sound and music are also spectacular. The gun sounds are all unique and identifiable, the explosions are cool, the skinning sounds are awesome, and the voice acting is up to the standards of Hollywood blockbusters.
The game will take a good 20 hours to complete or so, considering how much it offers. I mean, you have the southern part of Texas and the northern part of Mexico to explore. You can buy horses and other supplies from supermarkets, gamble for money, save people from crooks, kill and rob, and more. Even after you finish the game, there's the multiplayer. Now, multiplayer is actually not normally my cup of tea, but I'm absolutely certain that other gamers won't be able to put it down, as leveling up gets you a better horse (You actually start out with a donkey), and some other items.
Like I mentioned earlier, the game may sound simple, but then, every game does. It may sound all black and white at first, but as the game progresses, it gets a bit more complex and interesting. You met colorful characters along the way, such as General Ross, who organized your family's kidnapping, crazy treasure hunter Seth, drunkard Irish, war-torn Landon Ricketts, and the treacherous Captain De Santa of Mexico. In your search for your former allies (most notably Bill Williamson and Dutch van der Linde), you'll be taken from Texas to the border of Mexico, fight bandits and rebels, and so on. The character John Marston is also someone who you can really be sympathetic about. He had decided to settle for a normal life as a former with his family, before his life was taken from him again. At heart, you see he is a noble and honest man who will do anything to help a feller out.
This game is a must-have. This is one of the best games of 2010, if not THE best. It is simply a masterpiece. Everything is top-notch about it. It's just simply impossible to go wrong with this game. This game provides so much that it's also impossible to say that the game developers didn't put any effort into it. I mean, you can skin animals and sell their skin to stores to make money! How cool is that? This game really immerses you into the Wild West, and has made cowboys truly wild again. Rockstar Games is famous for creating great games, such as L.A.
