I know that Fire, Grass, and Water types have been a time honored tradition when it comes to starters in pokemon games, but still...anyone getting tired of it?

My all time favorite type of starter is Fire, but the last three fire starters have all been Fire/Fighting types, and the moves they learn just really aren't doing much for me anymore. I'm also getting tired of your rival ALWAYS picking the type that super-effective against your pokemon. I personally think that there should be more of a choice when choosing a starter. I'm not saying that there should be a different starter for every different type of pokemon, but maybe Nintendo can ad a few more, and mix it up a little.

I don't know about you guys, but a ghost type starter sound pretty good to me.

It's about the games, so I'll move it.

But my input..

No. They should stay traditional. Fire, Water, and Grass are the best starters given they are generally strong against one of the others, but weak against the others.

I'd honestly love to see a dragon type starter, I think it'd be nice for a little change from fire, water and grass types.

Yeah, it does get tiresome and repetitive after awhile, having the same type starters in every game...which is why I stopped playing Pokemon games altogether.

I always picked Grass type starters because I love their variety of status changing attacks which prove more effective than physical attacks.

Of course it would be nice having different starters, like a Psychic, Ghost, and Steel for example. Unfortunately I don't see that happening...even if the starters were different from my choices. Fire, Water and Grass will probably always remain because it has thus far.

I don't think new starter types should be created because although it would be interesting they'd have to figure out three types that would be rock, paper, scissors like grass, water and fire!

That is definitely a cool thought. I think a steel type might give players too much of an advantage to start out with. But a ghost type would be cool, as eliminator93 said. I wouldn't be against that.

It gets tiresome sometimes. psychic or fighting types would be a good change of pace. but no legendaries like the one below your eyes

I'd have to disagree on this except for one senario. Eevee is the only starter you can choose. Your Rival could change his team in accordance to which Eeveelution you have and everything would be dandy.

But changing the rock/paper/siccsors starters would be redicoulous. Game Freak chose those types because they were well balanced, and your Rival chose the type strong against yours to force you to add different types to your team.

No, that would be too confusing to people because in all five generations there has always been a grass, fire, and water type. Though the Pokemon get a little weirder every season. Sooner or later the creators are going to not know what to draw or what to name them.

I like your thinking, but the tradition must be continued. If they change that, then pokemon would never be the same, considering they have already changed it a lot. But great idea, I like how you thought out of the box there

I think they should to put on an extra spin to the Pokemon series because it has always been the water, grass, and fire types. I think they should incorporate some of the more unused types like ghost, bug, and steel. It would be weird yes but if you wanted to give your own opinion on this then what did you expect?

I think they should keep the tradition of this "type starter beats that type starter" just with different types. For example: dark. Fighting, psychic. Dark beats psychic, which beats fighting, which beats dark. A compromise.
