So, it's a quiet Friday night. My wife and I were hanging out watching some downloaded TV show episodes when our younger daughter (18 months old) started crying upstairs. She has had a bit of a fever on and off for the last day or 2 so we figured it had started up again and she needed more tylenol to take the edge off.

We went upstairs and took her temperature and she was at 105 degrees. Normal human body temperature is 98.6.... she is 6 degrees warmer than she should be and anything over 103 is dangerous and potentially damaging/fatal.

Needless to say we packed her up and my wife took her to the emergency room to get her checked out. Of course with it being a Friday night there will no doubt be lots of people there meaning it will take extra long for my wife and daughter to be seen. They've been gone for all of 5 minutes or so (long enough for me to close the door, sit down, and type out this post).

I'll keep updates going but mostly I just needed somewhere to talk about this to release the tension.

That sucks man. My daughter's around that same age, and she's never had a fever quite that high, but it can be really scary when they do get fevers like that. Fortunately, children that young are a lot more resilient than you and me. I remember when my daughter was just born, she consistently ran a fever of about 102, and the doctors told us it was actually quite normal. That was surprising.

Anyway, I hope everything's okay for her, and that you don't end up losing your whole night to the ER.

Oh my goodness Geeo! I am so sorry to hear that. My sister has been getting really sick this winter due to it being so warm. There are two biggies going around a stomach virus and a cold virus and it's been hitting hard around here and keeps recycling itself. I so hope your daughter gets better. I know it's hard to see a little one feel so bad. Just the other week my little sister fell down with phnumonia(Sp?) and she couldn't eat or drink. It happened just over night. She still is taking medicine for it now.

well, from what I was told (at 4 AM) is that she isn't sick enough to stay at the hospital. The tylenol must have kicked in or something.

Apparently it is some sort of virus and we just need to wait it out and keep her temperature down as much as we can. Not really what you want to hear. I would have preferred a magic pill that made her all better

I haven't seen her yet this morning. She's obviously still sleeping (as is my wife) but I have heard her crying for a bit before she fell back asleep so she must be okay.

The good thing about youngsters is that when she wakes up, she probably won't even remember being sick, so you can continue playing as normal.

Wow. That is pretty scary. Well now you updated that the medicine is kicking in that's such a relief to hear that your daughter will be alright. Hopefully she'll be 100% soon. I hope.

Wow, One scary thing about babies is when they get sick. I'm sorry your child has gotten sick Geeogree, but now we know that she's doing better. Hope she gets well soon!!

Well that sucks, sick babys are the worst. xD
they need so much attention, when my cousin is sick it's such a bother.

With Kelly posting in this I realized you have not told us how your child is doing. How is the little one Geeo? I hope she is better.

I'm sorry to hear that your daughter got sick. I have been through that before so I know where you are coming from. I hope that everyone is starting to feel better!
