So there have been many debates on what is the greatest video game song of all time, but I wanted to know what people consider the saddest song in gaming. A song that made you feel sad, depressed, or even got some tears out of you. You can pick any song from any game with no limits as to what can be your choice. So please, do tell.

What's mine? Well, it's tough one, but it would definitely be Nameless song from Dark Souls. It was a very deep and depressing song. It reminded you of how you killed and killed but gained what exactly? Nothing. You have become a hollow shell, capable of nothing but killing, knowing nothing more than just that. The title says Greatest Modern Gaming, but your opening post says absolutely nothing (literally). What did you intend this thread to be? In the future, remember that the title alone is not supposed to be the only thing describing the thread. Your opening post is supposed to do that.

Oh, haha. Sorry about that. That is a hard one. I love it when video games have great music. In my opinion, if developers take the time to make awesome music for their game, the game itself is likely awesome just because you know they took the time to make everything great. I have two sad songs that come to mind. The first one would be the song "Room Of Angel" from Silent Hill 4. If you want depressing, check out that song. It fits the game SO well. The other one has no lyrics, as it is just background music in the game. It is on Ninja Gaiden for Xbox. The part is the second time  you return to your village after it has already been completely wiped out. It is just slow and somber. Almost like Ryu is weeping as he is going through his lost home.

I'll definitely have to side with the Mother 3 Love theme on this one. It's the main theme of the game, and it pops up in so many ways. I can't really hear that song without getting all teary because of the story of that game.

The song itself just has this bittersweet sound to it. Depending on how it's played, it can sound like a sad lullaby that's kind of like a goodbye... Or an upbeat tune leading to new adventures. I think Mother 3's "It is Finished" is probably the saddest one i've heard.  Its much like the love theme and about 2 minutes in it gets even more sad.  Mother 3 has a great soundtrack.

Probably not the saddest I have heard, but I'd definitely say "Standing the Pain" in Tales of Symphonia. Every time it's played it usually involves a heart-breaking death scene. I'd say if Symphonia was more cinematic, I think it would actually be able to make me even tear a bit. The music alone during the scenes usually just hurt inside.
