This is one of the best Pokémon games I have ever played. If you have ever played a Pokémon game before you know why, this game is just so huge and immersive and probably the best put together game of it's time. I will rate all of the aspects of the game and why I think this game deserves them.
-Graphics 10- This game looks great for the GBA and on the Vizzed plug in, it is the Pokémon you know from the first and second generations, just with a huge amount of polish and shine. The sprites look great and even move when you send them into battle, the animations for the attacks are just beautiful, menus are good and organized, and you can even change the menu borders. If you have played Ruby or Sapphire, this is very similar only with a bit of extra thrown in.
-Sound 8- I gave the sound an 8 for a few reasons. I personally love the changing tunes when you enter a battle or a new town, for me it adds atmosphere. But for some it may be a little childish, it all just depends on how you look at it. The game does a good job of giving good music during big set piece moments of the story and can sound happy, spooky, or exciting.
-Addictiveness 10- This game is so addictive, it just grabs you and it makes you say " just one more level" or " another gym battle". It really makes you strive to beat it the best you can. Even when you beat it you can still search for obscure Pokémon, challenge the battle tower, and raise your Pokémon to be the best. You can also now breed Pokémon which adds a whole new level to simply beating a game.
-Story 8- I gave the story an 8. I love the story and think it is very interesting ( I wont spoil anything) but some may find it a little strange. You really have to try to think about it not the way you normally would though. You are still a young kid taking on something larger then him or her self so it is pretty cool.
-Depth 10- Wow this game goes deep. You could blow through it in about 25 hours of game play, or you could spend 40 leveling up, surfing all of the routes, diving for rare Pokémon, competing in contests and filling your pokedex (the last one takes ALOT longer). This game offers so much to do it is just so incredible.
-Difficulty 7- I gave it a 7 because it isn't that difficult and is accessible to younger kids, but it can be hard if you haven't played a Pokémon game before. There are certain places you can't go until you complete certain tasks which could get confusing. The typical wild battle isn't very hard, but when you fight trainers and gym leaders, it starts to get hard. There are also a few legendary Pokémon that are very difficult to find and catch, but possible with determination.
All in all I give this game a 9.6 because of the depth and addictiveness, but some might not like it because it has been called a "little kid game", well if an interesting, massive game with an amazing battling and item system and story is a little kid game then don't play and miss out on a truly great game.
