When playing the game with the Virtual Super NES Emulator, you start up Earthbound and the events of the game happen (it's night, the ground shakes, Ness wakes up). However, there are no people in the house and you can go outside right away. You are stuck though, and the game cannot progress past the first area.

What's the problem here?

This does not happen with the RGR Plugin, but some people can't download things because they are not using their own computer, so we can only use java to play the game

I'm really not sure why the Java emulator has that problem, but the ROM definitely doesn't have that problem while using the RGR Plugin which is built with the ZSNES emulator.

Not much we can do since it's a problem with the emulator and not the ROM. Currently this is the only Java based emulator for SNES I believe, and the Java emulators are prone to a lot more problems than the emulators that are built into the RGR Plugin.

I know, but my friend has a mac and wants to play the game.
I've also found problems with the java emulators for the English translations of the first Mother game. The newer emulator has problems with the in-game text and the older one is just too slow (there's already a disclaimer for this, but still).
Is there any way at all to fix the java emulators?
