So, what do you think of the Nintendo systems? Which one is your favorite, and why?

Nintendo Entertainment System: Ah, the NES. The system so commercially amazing it overturned 1983. R.O.B. The robot may the savior of gaming just for that. But was it that good with it's games? Among it's classics we have Super Mario Bros. 3, Legend of Zelda, Kirby's adventure, and the original Metroid. But what about the games far less famous? Well, the fact is on the NES if you're playing a game you've never heard of, it's likely bad. NES was basically the Wii of the 80s - while it has it's small selection of gems, their buried in the dirt that are film tie ins, infinity Mario rip-offs, and even bad ports like Metal Gear, panned by it's own creator. And that's without even touching the legendary bad games like Wisdom Tree's bible games, anything by LJN, or the NES's answer to ET and Superman 64... ACTION 52! Not just one bad game - fifty two of them!

Super Nintendo Entertainment System: Ok, now we've got SUPER in it. And it's 16-bit man! So was it really any better? You better believe it was! Standards were higher for games on the SNES, and they also had real competition in the form of the Genesis. The best thing about SNES (and genesis) is it's lack of a dominant genre, something every other generation of consoles had. But here, want a platformer? Well pop in Super Mario World. Feel like a race? Hit the future tracks with F-Zero. Fight monsters and sing opera in Final Fantasy III (er... VI?). Or just blow the crap out of everything in sight with contra 3. There was something for everyone on this system, and that's why many hail it as the best.

Nintendo 64: NOW we're talking. Games in 3D? Just the SIGHT of Super Mario 64 was amazing, and the legendary Ocarina of Time is the one and only game in existence to have a ninety nine on Meta-critic (no games have a 100). Goldeneye 007 is basically the first true FPS on consoles, and may also be the only good movie game ever made. The sequels to the SNES games not only stood up to their predecessors, they SLAMMED them. Because of the high price required to make a game, developers couldn't afford to screw up, so even lesser games like San Francisco Rush, Duke Nukem 64 (sequel coming in 12 years!) and Snowboard Kids 2 had a high standard of quality. Pretty much every game that's not a dead giveaway cash-in is awesome, and that's why the Nintendo 64 is my favorite system, period. So, how come no one agrees with me?

Oh, that.

GameCube: Now the GameCube made some great games. It had the first real Pokémon games on console, the superior sequel to Paper Mario, and Wind Waker. Super Smash Bros. Melee also took a one time fun game into a series, and a great one. But.. It had to compete with the PS2... so not only were so many games stolen away by Sony, Nintendo managed to ruin something I didn't think was possible. They messed up the main Mario game. Super Mario Sunshine, a destined to be great game, all ruined by fludd and miserable controls. Now is this really a bad system? No. Not even close. But it let me down personally with the Star Fox games falling easily to Star Fox 64. It just can't stand up to the 64.

Wii: In 2006, Nintendo released the Wii, based on motion control. It got amazingly high sales, and was able to make Sony and Microsoft not only lose money, but also copy off them.

Now - here come the trolls. And why not? Low tech? Check. Lame Gimmick? Check. Classic Games anyway, such as Mario Galaxy, DK Country Returns, Twilight Princess, and Super Smash Bros. Brawl? Check. Infinity shovel-ware, rising from the depths of bad play control (and activision) to make terrible, unplayable games? Check... WAIT A MINUTE! It's just the NES again, but with Motion control instead of ROB! Well there was no Internet for trolls in the 80s, although Angry Video Game Nerd is still mad. But seriously, the Wii is the NES remake. They might've called it the Ultra Nintendo Entertainment System.

But enough about my opinions. I know the GameCube defense force, Nintendo 64 assault team, and my favorite, "Wiifailz'n'suxitnotliekNES squad " will all be trashing my post as harshly as the mods will allow , but I'm more interested in your opinions of the Nintendo systems, and not just your opinions of my opinions.

Toad 004 : GameCube. It's really underrated. It has great games like Super Mario Sunshine, Pikmin 2, and Zelda Wind Waker. It's controller is great, and it's overall wonderful.

I will say that it is the Wii. Love the games, the motion control and the price.

Although the graphics haven't aged particularly well, more of my fondest memories lie with the Nintendo 64 than any other Nintendo console.

It was the first console I had ever gotten that wasn't already in my family when I was born, and I had nearly endless fun playing multi-player games like Mario Kart 64, Star Fox 64, and Super Smash Bros.

When there was nobody to play with, though, there were also amazing games like the two Legend of Zelda games and the two Banjo-Kazooie games that kept you playing all night.

If it weren't for the fact that N64 controllers have a nasty habit of breaking, I would probably call it my favorite gaming platform out of them all, even counting PC, but alas...

The Super Nintendo Entertainment System and original Nintendo Entertainment System ties for me. the fact is...these two consoles can legitimately grab interest with its large library of games with, to the modern collector, gimmicks irrelevant. All the gimmicky peripherals back then are largely identifiable as such now so...yeah.

I find the n64 has a terrible library of games, on the whole, and the Wii is primarily shovel ware with the relatively few gems in it. As for the GameCube...more along the lines of wrong place, wrong time as it came around when some Juggernaut were hitting the marketplace. However, I don't see ANY GameCube exclusives that makes it worthwhile for me to spare a glance at the console.

That's just my experiences though.

I always had fun playing the SNES when I went to my cousin's house. We mainly took turns playing Super Mario 3. The graphics are pretty dated, but it's a classic.

This spot is a tie between 3 Nintendo systems that I grew up with:

The Nintendo 64.
The Nintendo Gamecube.
And the Nintendo Wii.

The Nintendo 64 is the first ever console I ever owned, and I got it on my birthday! The first game I played with it was Super Mario 64, and this was my start of my favorite hobby: Everything related to video games.

The Nintendo Gamecube is the second console that me and my brother got for christmas, and I was so overjoyed to get it. I was excited to play Super Mario Sunshine, which I think is slightly better than Super Mario 64. Yes I said it, sue me!

And finally the Nintendo Wii, one of the greatest consoles I ever owned, and I still have it! This one I unfortunately can't remember if I bought it myself, or if it was a christmas gift a long ago. Either way, when I first played Wii Sports, I was looking forward for the games that would come eventually the near future, and I weren't dissappointed! My personal favorite game so far has to be Final Fantasy Fables: Chocobo's Dungeon, because I love Chocobos!

Thank you, Nintendo for making gaming today revolutionary!

For me, it would be a tie between the N64 and Gamecube. Both were fantastic pioneers in the smoothness and graphics of gaming, and there were some amazing games that came out for both systems.

I'd have to say the Gamecube. It's sad that the system didn't do as well as it should have, but it had some good games. The look of it was pretty cool, too. I'm using my Wii as a Gamecube since I don't use it much. I don't hate the Wii, I just lost interest in it after four or so years of owning it by the time I lost interest in it. It didn't have much I cared for.

The only Nintendo home console I really grew up with was the NES. It was good, but I preferred the Genesis I had. I like all the Nintendo home consoles listed, but not enough to really say I would invest in them as much. Now their handhelds I have always loved.

I know that this is a dupe but it is way far back so this should probably sit. Unless these guys are sticklers.

Anyways. I have to say wii. I like it the most just because it is every Nintendo console in one. I like the option to download what ever I want on to it. It is better than most people say.

I happen to own every system made by Nintendo with the exception of the Virtual Boy, and my least favorite is the Wii. My favorite system is the NES, because of the original Super Mario games, Zelda, and Castlevania. The N64 is close though.
