NBA 2K11 is the most recent professional basketball game released by 2K Games.  This is the best basketball game out to date, and is rightfully so since it is the newest one.  There are some new modes added to this version which make the game really fun to play.
The first thing you notice is that Michael Jordan is on the cover of the game.  When you first start the game, it starts you straight into a game as Michael Jordan and the Chicago Bulls; you may play through this game or go to the start menu and choose to quit the game.  There is a "Jordan Challenge" mode in the game which allows you to relive some of Michael Jordan's best performances of his career, including when he scored 63 points against the Boston Celtics in 1986, his famous "flu game" in which he dominated and scored the winning basket while terribly ill with the flu against the Jazz, and his final game in the NBA where he shot the winning basket at the buzzer to help lead the Chicago Bulls to their sixth NBA Championship title with him on the roster.  Each of these challenges have a certain set of requirements with Jordan to beat the challenge, such as scoring a certain amount of points, getting a set number of rebounds and/or assists, or holding other rival players under a given number of points for the game.  Being able to experience these moments as the greatest basketball player of all time are very fun and challenging.
There is a standard Season mode, in which the player chooses their favorite team and plays through all 82 games (or you may simulate some, or all if you like) and potentially through the playoffs and NBA Finals.  Between season games, the player can keep up with statistics such as injury reports, NBA records, league standings, and more.  The player can also change their game plan between games, such as changing the team rotation by how many minutes you aim to play each player in a game.  You can also look at the schedule to see your upcoming games before you play them and in-depth information about every player on your team such as if they are fatigued, their morale, and the amount on their contract.
My favorite mode in the game is the My Player mode.  You start off as an unknown basketball player trying out for the NBA.  You first play a few games against other prospects in order to increase your skills and try to impress an NBA team.  After you play through the training camp is the NBA Draft, where you see which team is interested in you and drafts you.  Once drafted by a team, you have not actually made the team yet: you have to train with the team for a certain number of weeks and they decide if you are good enough to stay on the team or not.  If they decide that you are not good enough, you are sent to the NBA D-League to play against lower-ranked basketball players and attempt to get good enough to make it back into the NBA.  Every game you play in My Player mode grades you on how good of a team mate you are based on how well you shoot, pass, and defend the ball throughout the game (so no ball-hogging!).  You are awarded points that you can put toward improving your skills by getting good team mate grades in games and getting to certain milestones in your career, such as scoring a certain number of points, getting steals, getting blocks, etc.  This game mode starts you out as a nobody and lets you rise through the ranks to become one of the best of all time.  There are several achievements for My Player mode, including: My Rookie of the Year (win NBA Rookie of the Year award), The Big Day (get drafted in the 1st round of the NBA Draft), and My Every Day Player (become a starter in the NBA in My Player mode).
In addition to the standard gameplay modes, there is also NBA Blacktop mode, which is a collection of mini-games and alternate playing styles.  The first is the Sprite Slam Dunk Showdown, in which you play one-on-one in a slam dunk competition that even lets you utilize props to jump over to score more points.  There is an achievement for the slam dunk contest: Sprite Slam Dunk Showdown (beat LeBron James in the Sprite Slam Dunk Showdown).  It is a difficult achievement as LeBron is the best dunker in the game.  The next mode is a pickup game, which lets you create a team of players from the NBA's current roster or from some of the best teams/players in history, in either 1v1, 2v2, 3v3, 4v4, or 5v5 game modes.  This is fun because you can make your dream team from the best players in NBA history and today's best superstars.  The next mini-game is a 3 point shootout, in which you pick a player and see how many three pointers you can make from 5 designated spots around the three point line in a given time limit.  The last mini-game is a game of 21 which is, as it sounds, a game mode to see who can get to a score of 21 points first.  It is sort of a free-for-all game of basketball because there are three players on the screen at a time, all trying to score points simultaneously and fighting over the basketball.  These mini-games make for a fun addition to the game if you are getting bored with just playing standard basketball with current NBA teams.
This is a very good basketball game, and I am interested in seeing how they attempt to beat this game with next year's version.  I don't see anything in particular that needs improvement, so I will be playing this one for some time.

Graphics: 9/10
The graphics in this game are very lifelike and the animations are very smooth.

Gameplay: 9/10
The gameplay is really well done and smooth; this is an excellent game.

Sound: 8/10
The announcers in the game are a nice addition; it makes you feel as if you are watching an NBA game on TV.  My only complaint is that it seems they do repeat some things a little too often sometimes.

Replayability: 9/10
I love playing basketball games, and this one is the best one to come out to date.  With so many different game modes and teams to choose between (including current and past NBA team rosters), there is a lot of replayability.

Achievements: 8/10
Some of the achievements are difficult and some are time consuming, but they have just enough difficulty that keeps me interested in trying to obtain them.

Overall: 8.5/10
