Post your stories here. When did you get it? What was your first game? What games did you easily beat? Which games where really hard? Who'd you play with? What is your favorite OLD gaming console? Why? What was your favorite NEW console? Why? What console are you looking forward to coming out next? You get the idea.
I remember getting the Nintendo first and I had the "Super Mario Brothers" cartridge with "Duck Hunt" on it as well. When "Super Mario Brothers 3" came out I was elated. I have played "Super Mario Brothers 2" which was an alright game and I liked that you could pull things out of the ground and throw but 3 was the shiznit! I must have bought that game 5 or more times because it either got lost or someone would steal it. That game still costs a good amount of money at GameStop too! Even after all these years and all the new consoles and games that surpassed Nintendo, Atari and all that. To this day I still don't have one (got taken) so...that's sad. BUT! Thanks to this wonderful site, I am able to play it again! WooT! WooT! Anyways, I used to play the Nintendo and Super NES in our basement where we had a couch and a big freezer. It'd me my brother and me, sometimes friends or family members. Some games I played back in the day *LOL* "Super Mario World," like I said, "Super Mario Bros.," and "Super Mario Bros. 3," along with "Duck Hunt," "Super Punch Out," "Paper Boy," the "Mega Man" games, "Killer Instinct," "Mortal Kombat," "Tetris," "The Lion King," "Dr. Mario," "Street Fighter," "Mario Paint," "Chip 'n Dale Rescue Rangers," "Pilotwings," "Gauntlet," "Taboo," "Duck Tales," You get the idea. When the Playstation had come out I had first head about it when I overheard my brother talking to my dad. I remember thinking "Police Station? What the heck?" LoL I even broke a rental game accidentally while trying to get it out of the Playstation. That little sucker snapped right in half! Never had that problem again, but yeah! LoL. So get typing everyone!

I have to admit its hard for me to go back and play the simple games of the past. Where side scrollers kick (my) ass. I can stand, and enjoy most of the older (__)bit music, but I find they get boring quick for me. I do enjoy old mario, and other popular games. My favorite is Super Mario Bros 3 for SNES.

Old video games are the best. They happened in my formative years and I grew up with Atari 2600, then 7800, then Nintendo, SNES, and so on. Games today are incredible in their story-telling and their visuals but they don't allow for imagination. I remember playing Super Mario, then running outside with my friends to go play a live version of Super Mario. It was a blast being a kid.

Nowadays, with all the tutorials, help files, cheats, FAQs online, and easily-available information, games aren't that much of a challenge. Before, you got a manual, your wits, and poor control features. You could call a hotline that gave tips from professionals or you get could a Nintendo Power magazine. There were no free resources. Any kid that could beat something was a king among friends.

Games back then were HARD. They didn't have save points, they didn't let you do the things you can do nowadays. Go back and try to beat Contra without 30 lives.

I loved the SNES the most. It had the best games with Final Fantasy, NHL 94, and a little game called Utopia. My personal favorite was Gemfire.

I love playing the old games. Sometimes I prefer it over newer games. Things were pretty much simple and straight forward. Now games are all over the place and there's usually so much to do.

I've been playing on my Super NES as of late, and some of my favorite games for it are probably LOZ A Link to the Past and Final Fantasy III(VI). They may be old, but they sure are better than a lot of more recent games I've played.
