Has your PS3 ever broke, or needed service/replacement? We got the first model in my house back in 07, the 60GB. It has since gotten the YLoD. We bought a second one, but I think I wanna get one of the new Slim models, mostly cause of more memory. So we only needed a new 1 once.

I have a slim 160 GB PS3. I play it all day most of the week, and never have found myself with any issues like this. It might be my room's fan always being on, though. The PS3 is less likely to get these deaths compared to the 360 due to better build quality.

Nope, I've never had any problems with mine. I've heard that the Xbxo slim models have reduced fail rate, so PS3 slim probably does too. That would be your best bet.

I never got YLoD, nor knew there was such a thing. My Xbox 360 is also still the first I've gotten, and it also hasn't gotten RLoD yet. Granted it was only this Christmas that I got it It's the slim one though, with 250GB, so I'm hoping it stays good and RLODless for a longgg time

crashhat69 : I was playing mine like crazy when I first got it on December. I only had three games, and it was no big deal to me. I have over 15 games now, and I only have issues with internet connection.

I buy more than one game at a time since I buy all my games used. Heck, I could easily get a job at the gaming store I shop at just because the guy would know he'd get an employee who was also the person he knows of that usually buys at least four games or two games every time. I only refuse to work there because I have severe anxiety issues, and even the owner knows it.

He sure does get a ton of money out of my wallet, though. I spent all my money recently there, in fact. Got Naughty Bear, and Condemned 2: Bloodshot for the PS3, and also got Resident Evil 4 for the PS2 and Tail of the Sun for PS1.(might give that PS1 game back if I still hate it months later...)

I'm am not a shopper who knows when to stop if I'm surrounded by games, it appears...

Only time I had to E-mail Sony about anything was my issues with games installing. It was common for me at first, but it slowly stopped. The support was very human, though. Even if it seemed like a from letter, it could have been a human. I was pleased. Sure, Sony is on their high horse, but when you get humans who think before they type on the job, that's service.

I got a 80GB PS3 fat 2007, I never got a single light of death and I play it everyday for hours. I simply dust it off and turn it completely off after I get through playing it. I still love my PS3 and worship the shelf it lies on.

Just from reading the comments on this blog post/article people should still watch out to not over use/over heat their PS3, and be mindful of other issues, you can still get the hardware problems in 2011 on the newer models. But it seems many it is least often in Slim models..

No, in fact, I've never heard of the yellow light of death for the PS3. But I keep mine well-ventilated and I don't use it that often, so I don't think it's in danger of overheating any time soon.

Is the yellow light of death as impossible to fix as the red ring of death is?

Someone70 : to answer your question your better off just sending it to Sony either on warranty or off(extra cost). There is no simple @ home fix. Here is a link of one site that provides info on how to do it yourself, though I don't recommend it. Just send it to Sony. Link
