Lolno, the drummer imo isn't the most important person in a band. The singer is. When you listen to a song, do you think, "OMG, I love the drummer in this!". Ok, maybe sometimes, but w/e. But most of the time, the singer is the only person you pay attention to.

the_casualty : I actually pay attention to every one in the band throughout the entire song, unless I don't know the part.

i think it's the singer as well. When you listen to a song, you pretty much listen to the singer. If the singer sucks, than those playing the instruments. IF the singer is awesome, then screw the instruments

I think the most important person in the band is the songwriter. Without them, there are no lyrics. And without lyrics, there is no way to come up with music to accompany said lyrics.

Everyone of course. You need music for lyrics and lyrics for music, you need someone to sing and someone to play. And once in a band, not everyone are replaceable. I mean, it's not possible to make music together just with anyone. At least I couldn't.

In a band, I completely agree with you Piox...without the drummer, there IS no band.

I was originally going to vote for the singer but then I realized that some bands have no singer or lyrics, just the sound of the instruments.

The most important person in a band, is the whole band ^^ !! Everyone has his own characteristic and unique sound. Some prefer guitars, some vocals, some drums, some bass, and some people something else....everyone is important in a band !

I also pay a lot of attention to every song i like and think : " Wow, nice drums / guitar riff etc. "

I almost always listen to the singer of the band first, but I think that the singer is nothing without the instrument players. Though, there is some very good music with only the instruments, too.

I think that everyone in a band is equally important because without one or the other it wouldn't be a band right.

The cowbell player

You can have amazing instrumental songs without vocals and you can have an amazing song with just vocals. So the most important person in a band is the person who puts themselves most into the band. You know the person that pushes the band to be better, pours their soul into what they do. Has nothing to do with what instrument you play or if you sing.

I think the guitarist may be the most important member, if he is playing badly, it makes the entire song crappy.

Really, No one person is the most important because everybody has an equal part.

Take for example when people like some songs for the beat and others for the words

I really think that the drummer is the most important part of a band, despite being the one ignored most of the time. The singer would be important most of the time but without a beat behind the words, the rhythm is hard to define. That's just me of course. - Words from the forgotten pianist.
