Of course you've see the movies where a mad doctor or scientist would put someones brain in another body.I saw one where an old lady wanted to put her brain in a younger one.

Do you think this will ever be possible?

I think so, although I truthfully don't think it would be the best idea, because then you'd lose all your memories and get another person's memories. Kind of strange if you ask me.

jmc1097 : How would you loose your memories? You would just get a new body.Like they were trying to do in Robocop.

I think this would work, although it would probably be some years before its perfected and we can do it without any problems

I think that would work, but I believe that the person's personality would change, because the brain doesn't have their whole being. I think that some of that is still in the heart and other organs.

I don't think it would work because as soon as the brain left your head, you'd be dead so it'd be pointless to put a new brain into a dead person.

I read an article about how they're researching to find a way to essentially download your brain onto a computer. http://edition.cnn.com/2005/TECH/05/23/brain.download/

I guess that's like a brain transplant. It certainly seems like it would be more practical.

But my question is, when do you force someone die. It would take an insane amount of energy to preserve a large number of people... it just seems like that may be the next big modern controversy.

soxfan849 : Yea, something like this does seem like it could be "the next big controversy".,and it does seem like a memory download would be a lot more practicle not to mention less messy.

There probably is no need for brain transplants in future they will probably come up with a device that can think for you sorta like a pacemaker. I think there are too many disadvantages to brain transplants one being getting the traits of the previous owner if that is how it works.

Getting a new brain is like getting alzheimer's... you wont know who is who... to bad its not like the matrix and you can just download memories and skills into your brains.

I don't think that is possible because once the brain is disconnected from the humans body the person would die....so I've been told.

I've heard of situations (cause my Aunt is a nurse) where some patients were alive with no heart beat....cause their brain was still functioning. My point being...the brain is the main source of what gives us life...without it or it being removed for a transplant seems both impossible and stupid.
