How would you like a better way to browse through the 360 Arcade games? I didn't want one either, but here it is. Destination Arcade is an experimental new way to browse all 360 arcade (downloadable) games.
Basically, everything is uber-streamlined. You can view games like game x (an example would be pressing Y to view games like Monkey Island), or you can press X to recommend games. Recommended games show when you enter the main menu for arcade. Wait, I should explain.
There are 2 tabs to DA. One is new releases, which shows the newest releases. Releases like Limbo, Monkey Island 2, Blacklight Tango Down. The other tab gives you options, such as games that your friends recommend (not specifically for you, just games that friends recommend in general), fairly new releases, and all games.
Recommended games brings you to all games that friends have recommended. For example, I recommended Monkey Island 2 and Limbo. When my brother pulled this up, it said that friends recommended them.
Fairly new games brings you to new games that aren't brand-spanking new. These would be games like Earthworm Jim HD or Duke Nukem: Manhatten Project (hail to the king, baby).
All games brings you to another menu that asks about which letters you want to look at. Like A-G, H, I-M, etc.. Say I want to see I-M, to look for Monkey Island 2. It'll bring up all games from I, J, K, L and M, but it will ask you which specific letter you want to broswe games in. So I'd want M, and it brings up all games that begin with M. On the left side, you'll see the cover, title, and rating of the game which is currently highlighted. You can highlight other games with the left stick.
It'd be best for you to try it yourself, BUT, it's very hard to find where to download the 22MB file. In one of the sections of the UI, Spotlight, there will be a summer of arcade thing, like you have things for the game in your disc drive, your profile, etc.. Press A, then go up one. Go all the way to the right and there it should be. There should be Destination Arcade all the way on the right. Download it, then, once downloaded, go to your game library. You should see it there. Press Y to "play game", as the 360 calls it. Now you're ready to try DA. Hope you like it as much as I do! How would you like a better way to browse through the 360 Arcade games?
